Frode. Alkha and a crocodile...

A CROCODILE and two men were also seen next to the red tree.

The men, FRODE and ALKHA are working for the same company, and maintaining the city, keeping it clean and pretty.
The crocodile is one of several "animals" from the theme park,
with african animals, at the playground near Stavanger Aftenblad, our biggest local newspaper.

This is the most colorful tree in the park at the moment.
Today I took a closer look.

Søregaten.

There are quite a number of office and shops areas that are empty and ready for new people to take over..... So if you have plans for something new, and money as well as the spirit for something new for next year...... you could start out with looking around Søregaten where there are places on both sides of the little road....

I seriously think it is sad to see this happening in Stavanger.
Is it the same in many other cities?

Control tower decorated for x-mas.

Even the tower at the airport has been decorated for Christmas.
I think it had even more lightbulbs around the windows than this, but perhaps it was taken down or fell off when we had some storms.
Anyway, today is the big day for people who are traveling back after visiting friends and family. Some have taken tomorrow off from work, and some will not go back home until after the new year.

Quiet in town.

In Norway the presents were opened yesterday evening (and after that, Father Christmas went to England.... we were told as children).

Stavanger is very very quiet.......

I hope you are having a good Christmas holiday wherever you are.

Look at all the artistic work that has been put in to this.

New office buildings.

A couple of months back the company Troll finished their new 9200m2 office building.
It is based in the Hinna Park area, close to several other big companies, the train station, a big residential area, as well as several restaurants and shops.

I like the style of it and the different materials on the facade, as well as the splash of bright colors around some of the windows compared to many other buildings.

If you want to go to "The Danish bakery", at least that is what it used to be called, you will find not only a very old and cosy house, but also plenty of choice.

Faith Baptist Church.

Just passing..... when I went for an evening walk at Ullandhaug.
I am sure we have a Baptist church/community here in Stavanger, but I think that this is for English speaking people.

Shopping.

I spotted her straight away, the smiling Maria Gill, who told me she was "half way" through doing her Christmas shopping.

The airport has been closed part of the day, due to the very strong wind!

The Lion King.

He had just arrived back from Kristiansand last night, after having given a speech at the hotel next to the Zoo. I guess he was paid for his speech, but as a memento, he was also presented with this splendid Lion who even got a free seat next to him on the plane back to Stavanger.

Scotland won!

Here is the update on yesterdays image.....

Scotland won with 6 over Norway who were doing well, but lost and got only 5.
I have to say that the Scottish supporters were very enthusiastic, and the players too.
CONGRATULATIONS  to The Royal Caledonian Curling Club / Scotland!

If you are watching TV and are interested in SPORT, 

you might have seen the European Championship in curling, that are taking place in Stavanger theses days?

This is Thomas Ulsrud.

He is the skipper of the Norwegian men`s Curling Team.

The Norwegian players are easy to spot because of their red, white and blue trousers.

Thanks to the company who invited some customers to this event.

They also provided food and drinks, as well as information about their company.

And not least, for the game itself. I have never seen curling LIVE before.

BOKLAGERET

Small businesses are really struggling these days....
This bookshop is selling out their books with prices next to nothing.
And they will probably leave Stavanger before the end of the year.

Italian Cafe at the Xmas market.

Some of the pupils at the Rudolf Steiner school had setup an Italian Cafe, with quality food and nice proper Italian coffee. I asked if they learned Italian at school, but no, they learned Spanish.
Anyway, they are off to ROME on a school trip soon. Lucky young people!
The lunch was yummy and full of garlic. Hopefully they got their travel budget in the plus after the Xmas market at the weekend.

As I said in yesterdays posting, the xmas market is on the whole weekend.

More music, more entertainment and more to buy.

It looks like we will have a cold, but sunny day here in Stavanger.

Shopping in a mall, like here at KVADRAT can be a pure pleasure on a sunny day!
Free parking and plenty of space to walk, and lots of shops under the same roof.
