This is NOT where I had lunch or dinner today, but I would have loved too....
Anyway, I just passed this beautiful and very elegant restaurant in the "Gordon Ramsay" tent, where chefs from The Culinary Institute of Norway, in cooperation with Gordon Ramsay, served a five course dinner, including wine.
(Anyway, today I have attended a very nice guided group tour (around lunchtime) with http://www.matsafari.no including an interesting tour around the canning museum. I will tell you more about that later.)
So, where is YOUR favorite place for dinner? If the place has a webpage, announce your number one place here.....
Have a nice weekend, and please send some sunshine this way. If you see the weather sign on this blog you understand why.

I remember this young boy and his music from last summer....
Today I used pen and paper, got his name and e-mail and had a little chat with him on the corner where he impressed passers by who seemed to give him quite a bit of money.
Well done, Karsten!
At the age of 14 it is not that easy to get a summer job, but he has created his own. Even traveling all the way from Varhaug, which is about a 1 hour drive from Stavanger.

"Vonheim" is one of nearly 3000 "bedehus" (as they are called ) in Norway, mainly located in small places, and they are independent Christian communities where some people have services without having to use a priest from a church.
When I parked outside the shop next to it in the evening, there was not much life there, and I don`t know if they have had something on the program today.
This one is on the way to the airport.

Tonight I saw a part of "Hinna Park" reflected in a nearby school. Yes it is a school, one of the most modern one in the area, for teenagers who want to become chefs, health workers etc.
The name of the school is "Jåtten Videregående Skole", and it is about 15-20 minutes by car outside the city centre.

A few days back my husband and I had a quick lunch together, and next to us sat a mum, Anette, who was breast feeding her two month old daughter, Chloe Linnea.
It is a very common and a very normal thing to breast feed in public here in Norway.
What is it like where you are living?
The baby´s family on her fathers side are living in South Africa, and the family will spend a month there before mum is going back to work. In Norway you are entitled to 80% of your salary for 13 months after giving birth.
Look at that little hand..... :)
Love was in the air.......

I went with a friend to a very nice lunch concert at the concert hall today.
When we walked back in to the city centre we stopped at this Gallery in "Old Stavanger".
It is based in Øvre Strandgate 92. This is the owner and main artist of the gallery, Junin Andersen. The gallery is open from 11-15, and I will be back to look at more....

Did you see yesterdays photo, the wooden bench?
Well, this is LIV who is the most sporty Lady I have met for a long time. She is the one who contacted the council as well as a local politician, who then again managed to get these benches put up around popular walking paths. She is out walking and swimming (nearly) every day.... even when there is ice and snow! Thanks LIV for the effort you have put into this project!
She speaks several languages and has been teaching children, as well as foreign adults their new language, Norwegian. She sometimes meets some of her old pupils, who are now adults.... sometimes difficult to recognize them from the "good old days".

Here you see ROBINSON Lazar from Babylon/ Iraq, MICKAEL Mehari and his brother FARS Mehari from Eritrea. They all spoke Swedish, since Sweden is the country they came to as children and where they were brought up. They are now living and working in the Stavanger area. I heard the hip-music from their car and saw them enjoying the summer evening!
Have FUN and enjoy life!

Yesterday I said " Hipp-Hipp-Hurra" to HELMA & PETER (Arndts) from Bemmel in the Netherlands.
They celebrated their 33 th. Anniversary as a married couple! Congratulations!! They were in Stavanger on holiday, and had been here for 3 days, continuing with a trip today to the famous Pulpit Rock, then moving on to Flom, Sognefjord and Telemark. You can see their car and bicycles in the background at Mosvangen Camping.
They enjoyed their holiday and had been visiting Kvitsøy, an island outside Stavanger, The Iron Age Farm, and the Norwegian Oil Museum as well as the centre of Stavanger.
This was their second time in Norway. Ten years ago they were to Lillehammer and continued north on a family holiday with kids in the car.
I hope they will enjoy the rest of their holiday too.

Today has been lovely, up to +20C, blue sky and nice and sunny!
I enjoyed a quiet walk this morning, and saw many nice spots and places I used to go to when I was a child. Look who I met, the swan who was busy preening, and I caught a reflection too,
so I add this photo to the monthly theme day.
Anyway, "Hipp - Hipp - Hurra" to Helma & Peter!!:)
Tomorrow I will tell you why I wrote this.....
