Sowing at Byhaugen.

Tonight I have been to a course on how to grow vegetables etc. in boxes.
There were about 20 of us on the course in the community center at Byhaugen.
A man from the ecological farm gave us a demonstration on how to do it, and some of us helped with doing the work.
A very windy and cold evening tonight. There are places where they had fresh SNOW today.

Family life at Ullandhaug.

Family life at Ullandhaug tonight.

I think it is fantastic to see what is going on out in the country side, only 5 minutes (by car) away from the city centre.

And we adore and love him to bits.

Cycling season.

In both May and June there are some BIG cycling events happening in the nearby area.

People , individuals as well as companies are now busy practicing on their bikes.
Sometimes it is a bit dangerous. Some think the road belong to the cyclists, and they don`t mind showing it, if it means a new personal record from home to work ....

This is an (archive) image taken of Mr.X out cycling peacefully and no competitions that particular
day.

Anyway, I wish them good luck!!

Blue sky today!

What a lovely day we have had today!
A bit of "Easter Yellow" here and there.
Lots of people out and about.
Not everyone has been skiing up in the mountains.
This is close to the fish market and the harbor.

From Thailand to Norway.

Po Samansukumal from Bangkok /Thailand spoke with a strong American accent. (He had been studying in the USA.)
He had been to the famous pulpit rock yesterday, and had been lucky with the weather.
He had not seen anything else of the area..... just heading for the famous mountain.
Before Stavanger he had made a stop on Iceland.

I am so impressed about ALL these sporty people who aim for Pulpit Rock!

Well, I guess there are different people, different sizes and grades of fitness.
Po told me that there are certain lists out on internet of places to go and visit, and it was there that he found the things he was after.

You just have to come back and explore more of the region, Po :)

Many Norwegians head to his homeland for warm sunny days, relaxation, and to explore different parts of the country. But so far I have not met that many Thai people who have travelled to Norway just to find a famous mountain.

So where is the place YOU would really like to visit?

The little cottage with a great view.

Heading south out of Stavanger.
I love the beaches and the coastlines.
The owners of this little red cottage have a magnificent view!

Saturday, 12 April 2014

It is quiet in Stavanger now.

Early evening in Stavanger, near the fish market and harbor, also called Vågen.
It feels like half of the populations have left, and gone to cottages, visiting friends or family or perhaps headed for a week abroad.

The houses you see here are mainly pubs, bars, nightclubs and restaurants.

We have had plenty of rain the whole day, but around 18.30 the sun was shining again.

Enjoy the Easter Holiday!

Sporty man out on the road.

We have no snow in the Stavanger area, only up in the mountains.

People still find ways to "pseudo ski", in this case using roller blades.

Goodnight from Stavanger.

Goodnight from Stavanger.

I just crossed the bridge, Strømsbrua, and noticed another sign of spring.
It is probably a fun-fair event for the upcoming Easter holiday.

Work in progress.

There are so many new buildings being built in our area.
Here you can see the progress with the Clarion Hotel Energy.
A few more months now, and then it will be ready to welcome staff and customers.
