For days now, the centre area around the harbor has been closed to traffic. As you can see, lots of people are enjoying the nice weather and meeting up with friends for drinks and perhaps something to eat.
The Beach Vollyball is still THE major event in town.

There are so many cruise ships in and out of the harbor.
Here you can see "Norwegian Jade" and "MSC Orchestra".

"Old Stavanger" is picturesque and central, and a popular place to walk around as a tourist or with friends and families not living in the city. There are a few shops around here, and a nice view over the harbor. It is quite a popular place to live, and many houses are very well looked after. In the summer it is colorful, and on a wintery day it also has it`s own charm!;-)

Still HOT, and today some hours were spent at Hellestø Beach, south of Stavanger.

Outside "Sting" this evening.
We have had +27C during the day, and that is what I would call unusual for Stavanger!

Have a nice weekend!

The 2009 SWATCH FIBV World Championship (Beach Volleyball) started in Stavanger this evening.
I walked along Vaagen Harbor early today, and saw lots of players exercising before the BIG EVENT.
It lasts until Sunday July 5th, and there will be lots of concerts and other activities going on in the centre of the city. The weather forcast is very good! ;-) Today has been SUPERB!

"Asfalt" is our cities new and only street magazine. It is sold by people who might not have lived what some of us call "an A4 life", for quite some time. They can be really proud about this quality product, full of interesting articles, good photos and a very professional lay-out! The salespersons receive half of the price of the magazine, and I think there are many people and companies who have already decided that this is a very good product that they want to support.
I was happy to get hold of issue number 2.
I was also allowed to take a photo, and put it up here.

On the back of the magazine it is written:

"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he feeds himself for life."

Tonight is "Midsummernight"
Here in Stavanger, during the summer, it is light until very late in the evening. Most people gather together with friends, family or neighbors for picnics, barbeques and parties.
Some do this at home, and some go to places where there are organised events including big bonfires.
A good excuse for a party....... but tomorrow is back to work for most people.

Todays newspaper, still delivered at home, but I might be "old fashioned"?
More and more people just read the news on internet. I have to admit that I like to "feel" the papers and magazines. "Stavanger Aftenblad" is the biggest regional newspaper, and you can buy it in other cities in Norway, and even some places abroad.  You can find more info here:

There are more cruise-ships coming to Stavanger this year than ever before.
Today I walked around the harbour with my camera together with quite an international group of tourists. One Canadian guy was eager to find and take some photos of the Cathedral, and he was in a real hurry because he had to be back at the ship in 20 minutes to join a 3 hours guided tour by bus. Anyway, it is a lovely day, and the temperature was also good, so I hope they all had a nice time in and around Stavanger.
The picture is of the "Tahitian Princess" and is taken from the "Valberg tower."

Info from the port :

Morning had broken, and I had my first cup of coffee with a friend at "Black Coffee" which is in Breitorget, just behind the Culture house in Stavanger.
The "photo" on the window is the owner of the coffee bar.
