These are definitely the NUMBER ONE  and TWO places to go as a tourist in and around Stavanger.
PULPIT ROCK and LYSEFJORD
I recommend good shoes and a day when the weather is ok.

Stavanger is number 2 ......

Stavanger is number 2 after Oslo (including it's surrounding region), when it comes to the number of roundabouts.

This is a view downhill from Gausel, not far from Gandsfjord.

A grey and wet summer day, but never mind, it will be better.
The people who have cottages or houses near the beach and the North Sea, also have a view over to the lighthouse at Flatholmen.

This is about 20 minutes by car from the centre of Stavanger.

Summer.

When I passed this building in one of the backstreets of Stavanger,
I suddenly got the feel of another country further south in Europe.

We can`t complain too much about the weather today. SUNNY but windy.

A narrow little road.

As you can see, driving through narrow streets can be a bit complicated. Do you see the corner of the white building to the right? Well, this is not a road open for all cars, just for those who have special permissions.

It is an area with restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
And a lively place in the evenings.

Summer will come......?

Well, if you are in and around Stavanger today,
you will look up and see that this is not like the sky we have just now.
So far we have not had much "summer" here.
It has been cold, windy, sometimes rain, sometimes a bit of sunshine and a warm day or two.
The school holiday has started and many families have headed for Spain, Portugal, Italy, France etc.
I look forward to warmer days.

When I saw this symbol up on the building I immediately thought about the canning industry.
That used to be BIG business here in Stavanger.

Something new & something old.

Something old & something new at Østre Bydel, a part of Stavanger that for years has been quite run down, but now it has many new businesses and flats. ( Even a small "beach")

NORDSJØRITTET 2015

The popularity of road cycling in Norway has grown dramatically in the last 20 years.
Today was the BIG EVENT for more than 10.000 participants who attended in Norway´s second largest bicycle race. It starts at Egersund and 91 km. later it ends outside the Culture House at Sandnes.

Well done!

I guess there must be some creative people living here in The Blue Artistic House.

Bonzo

Bonzo had gone fare from home.... to end up in our garden.
He was keen on meeting our dog who just finished being "on heat."

If he could, he would have gone through the window:)

We found the owners phone number around his neck, and they were happy to go home in the car together.

The Queen Of The Coast.

MS SANDNES, also named The Queen Of The Coast and The Night Route, was made back in 1950.

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening at 21.00 it left from Stavanger and stopped at several small places along the coast on it's way to Bergen where it arrived 07.00 the following morning. The day was used to empty the goods, bring new things onboard and clean and prepare food.

Today it is used for special events, and it is sometimes open as a restaurant/cafe you can visit.
It is well kept and has style inside, with the dark wood, beautiful furniture, and art on the walls.

LØVÅS BRUKTBU

This is the place to visit if you are looking for old and unique books, magazines etc. that you can no longer find in bookshops.
They have been here for years and hopefully will continue for many more.
Some people still love to read books, not only through internet.

All nurses.

When I passed the Cathedral today, I noticed lots of people wearing different national costumes.
All the people you see here, have just finished their Bachelor degree, and are now qualified nurses.
That is what I call a very important job they are going in to.
Congratulations and best wishes!

Railway.

NSB ( our railway company) has had problems, but seriously it is the company with best customer service these days!
