Part of a fountain, next to a place that used to be a restaurant, named "Den Gylne Fontene"/ "The Golden Fountain."

Wednesday 30 January 2013

A quiet morning at Vågen, near the fish  market, which you can see in front of the big office building.

From time to time the water goes over the edge, so we have a small flood that can sometimes end up inside some of the old buildings along the harbor.

Rain and quite windy today.
I am off to the cinema soon to see " Les Miserables"!:)

Tuesday 29 January 2013

Just like yesterday`s image, this is also from the Clarion hotel.

Monday 28 January 2013

Art made by Kjell Pahr-Iversen, seen at the Clarion Hotel.

Sunday 27 January 2013

Some places have fairly thick ice and you can skate, other places like in this picture, - are dangerous, if the sign is up!

Saturday 26 January 2013

The city park and the little lake, Breiavatnet.

Friday 25 January 2013

We have had some very cold days, but also SUNSHINE.
Today we even had a bit of snow in the air.....
The SALE is still on.
- Have a nice weekend! With or without shopping.

Thursday 24 January 2013

YRSA SIGURDARDOTTIR, is an Icelandic writer, of both crime-novels and children fiction.
I met her, as well as other crime writers, tonight at a meeting arranged by the publisher.
Her books have been translated in to 34 languages.
So this is the book I will start reading as soon as I have finished the book I am currently reading.
What are YOU reading at the moment?

Wednesday 23 January 2013

Details from the cathedral.

Tuesday 22 January 2013

Jon + Oda = True.

Monday 21 January 2013

Some more messages in our city.

Sunday 20 January 2013

My lilies have given me a touch of color here at home, when it is cold and wintery outside.
Long working day today.
Hopefully the nice weather  will continue tomorrow.

Saturday 19 January 2013

There are still 5 Norwegian people missing from the terror attack in Algeria.

Statoil, the Norwegian leading energy company in oil and gas production, has it´s headquarters here in Stavanger.
This is Helge Lund, the director, who gave a press conference this evening.

( As did the PM and foreign minister too.)

The media are following up, and we have news nearly all the time.

Some other countries have the same problem.

Let us hope that the missing people will be found!

Friday 18 January 2013

Two empty houses for sale.
Not far from the airport.

They can be moved if you have money and a piece of land.
The new road on both sides made it impossible to live there I guess.
I hope the owners got a good price for their properties.

Thursday 17 January 2013

Seen at the H&M store.
(English text also here.)

Wednesday 16 January 2013

Seen this morning.
It is freezing COLD, and perhaps a man, or just his shoes had been thrown out last night?

Tuesday 15 January 2013

"The Suntree" is the name of this statue.
It is made by Arne Vinje Gunnerud.

At the back you can see the Cathedral.

Monday 14 January 2013

We had a nice cold weekend!:)

Sunday 13 January 2013

Just waiting....waiting ...waiting......

Saturday 12 January 2013

This is Stavanger:

Blue sky and sunshine, but COLD.

Friday 11 January 2013

Look what I found in town today at my favorite florist.

- HAPPY WEEKEND!

Thursday 10 January 2013

It is amazing how much roadwork there is in and around Stavanger.
As you see here,  they are digging up the road near the harbor again.

Wednesday 9 January 2013

"King of the castle."

We have had days with rain and fog.
Hopefully some sunny days soon!

Tuesday 8 January 2013

Unfortunately, this is becoming more and more common and can be very costly for the owners.

Monday 7 January 2013

Lifes little treat, a coffee now and then.

This is from "Steam", and a view out to the street Klubbgaten.

Sunday 6 January 2013

It is Sunday, and for some it means going to church.
This is the entrance to the Cathedral here in Stavanger.

Saturday 5 January 2013

So many naked "people" in the shop windows these days!
The BIG SALES has started, and new clothes are going to be shown.

Friday 4 January 2013

A busy morning for both of these two:)

Thursday 3 January 2013

Are you good at finding out what kind of job people do, if they don`t have a uniform or a sign that tells you about it?
Can you spot a dentist, a vet, shopkeeper or a car salesman??

Today I met Mr. Sævland, who is a taxi driver.
He was a friendly guy who said yes straight away to being todays model.

It is years since I have seen any taxi drivers wearing a hat. Looks smart!

Anyway, I have to say that the most service minded taxi drivers I ever met, were in Japan!

Stavanger is probably no better or worse than other cities in Europe.

Wednesday 2 January 2013

This is Paradis.
It is not a joke, it is an area of Stavanger.
You can take the train to Paradis.
It is only one stop from the main station.

Tuesday 1 January 2013

Just like many other members of the CDPB community, I will post one of my favorite blog photos from 2012.
I have some that many people have commented on and have told me that they liked.
This is the one I chose for the first posting in 2013.
Please take a look at the other participants photos too.
You will find the link HERE

And once again, a HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!
