Colours & lights.

I NEED colours & lights this time of year!

Looks beautiful in town now!

This is from the colourful little road Øvre Holmegate,
nicknamed FARGEGATEN (colour street)

The tower at Ullandhaug.

Just a cold, grey and wet day!
This is the tower at Ullandhaug, decorated for Christmas.

After the storm.

Sørmarka today.
There were some signs from the STORM. (URD)

Tuesday 27 December 2016

Father Christmas looks pretty exhausted....

Perhaps a little too much to drink???
Or maybe it was the STORM that put him out of action??

Monday 26 December 2016

URD,- the extreme weather is on it's way...

We have been out for a walk, but now it is best to stay inside....
Strong winds, a bit of hail in the air and on the ground.
We are asked to put things away so loose items will not fly off into the air.

URD, the extreme weather is on it's way!

What will happen with the Christmas trees outside the pub "The Irishman"???

At home it is time for more Christmas food, and if the weather is too bad tonight, our guests might have to stay over. No problem.

Have a nice Boxing Day wherever you are!

Sunday 25 December 2016

It is X-mas time.

It is X-mas time.

Saturday 24 December 2016

GOD JUL / MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Wherever you are; have a nice Christmas!

Friday 23 December 2016

Crazy car.

We have had a tiny bit of sunshine, but mostly it has been pouring down with lots of rain today!
My car has been so dirty that it has been embarrassing, but when I saw this I realised that there are much stranger cars to look at out on the road. (Wish I had seen the driver. He or she must have a crazy sense of humour.)

Maybe I will translate what is written on the car, if nobody figures it out via google translate.

Wednesday 21 December 2016

GODE VENNER / GOOD FRIENDS.

No it is not me, nor do we have a cat.

This is Wivek Linjordet,
our dog's vet who we (including our dog) are so pleased about.

Yesterday she opened her own veterinary - clinic GODE VENNER DYREKLINIKK at Klepp, south of Stavanger. This place is also close to Sandnes, Bryne and Sola.
We the customers, were invited for the official opening and had an interesting guided tour around the clinic.

I was impressed about the clinic and all the surgery she can actually do, even complicated dental work! She has taken further education in that field in Luxembourg.

Best of luck, Wivek!!

Tuesday 20 December 2016

Good morning!

GOOD MORNING from Stavanger.

Monday 19 December 2016

Sunday 18 December 2016

OPEN DAY today.

It was an OPEN DAY at the museums today.
Here is a glimpse from the Norwegian Petroleum Museum.

Saturday 17 December 2016

Seen in a restaurant

Normally I really don't like animal heads on walls, but if you see this one in a restaurant, you are lucky enough to be in one of the better restaurants in town, and to have the opportunity to enjoy very nice food and wine.

Friday 16 December 2016

Lysløypå...

This is a little narrow road, nicknamed LYSLØYPÅ, a place where you will find restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs. It is very busy in the evenings, and perhaps even more now when it is time for Chrismas drinks &
dinners.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Thursday 15 December 2016

Gingerbread houses 2016

The annual event with the city made out of gingerbread, can be seen at The Culturehouse.
This looked like it was made by an architect with eyes for details. Very well done!!
The label said: The house at Våland, made
by Elin Lundegård from Hundvåg.

Wednesday 14 December 2016

Christmas or not...

It is soon Christmas time, and here you see some children waiting to visit the Cathedral.
Today was a perfect day to take a trip in to town. Cold but sunny.

It is up to the parents to say yes or no for their children to attend a church service before Christmas.

Some schools in Stavanger as well as other places in Norway have decided not to use the word Christmas, and instead name it a December event, where they sing the songs but words as Christmas/ Father Christmas have been changed to something "neutral".

Probably difficult to be a teacher and talk about Christmas without using the word....

I guess the discussion will continue also after Christmas this year....

Take a look at this :

A mural.

I guess street art can bring out some feelings/emotions (?)

Sunday 11 December 2016

The Lithuanian Artist Ernest Zacharevic has his art on this bus. he is one of several artists who are represented via Nuart. Looks bright and more fun than "just the green colour."

Løye fra London.

"Løye fra London" directly translated "Fun from London,"
was the title of yesterdays English Comedy Evening at KINOKINO in Sandnes.

(Our neighbouring city south of Stavanger, only 17 minutes away by train.)

Here you see Dana Alexander in action.
An evening with English speaking stand-up comedians and an audience from several European countries.

I have been told that there will be more  "Fun from London" sessions in the spring of 2017.

The "Plastic Fantastic" corner,
with a beautiful reflection in the window.

Friday 2 December 2016

A bit of RED.

December is a dark month and we need colours and light!
This woman had added a bit of RED and she looked so cute!
Probably the cutest post woman I have ever seen!
Even her nails matched.

Nice meeting you!

Thursday 1 December 2016

Transitions.

Transitions.

Take a look at other theme day images from other parts of the world HERE.

Wednesday 30 November 2016

Number THREE

I liked the style of Number THREE....
Seen at Old Stavanger.

Tuesday 29 November 2016

Ready for Christmas?

This is work in progress.
The huge father Christmas might be put somewhere else?
The place has become some sort of a landmark in Stavanger.
Some people find it tacky, some LOVE it.

Monday 28 November 2016

Sunday 27 November 2016

Christmas market.

Today was the annual Christmas market in "Old Stavanger".
Some sold handmade products together with friends,
some sold products where the money should go to charity.

Saturday 26 November 2016

No snow.

Here there is no snow but plenty of wind.

Friday 25 November 2016

A song on the road.

We were just walking by, and the children decided to sing to the dog.

Thursday 24 November 2016

Sørmarka

Sørmarka is a great area to go for walks etc.

This is an image taken from Ullandhaug.

Wednesday 23 November 2016

She is busy.

She is one of several women, who are in Norway selling their knitted products.
Quite impressive what she has made.
If you don't have cash it is not a problem, - always a "mini bank" nearby.

Tuesday 22 November 2016

Atlantic Hall

Atlantic Hall is part of the Radisson BLU Atlantic hotel, and the hotel is now closed for customers during the renovation work. It will be very different when it opens for business again.

The Atlantic Hall has hosted so many BIG events, and most people over 50 have probably been there more than once.

Monday 21 November 2016

A mural outside fairly new flats.

A mural perhaps part of NUART or just contemporary art, -seen at what we call Østre Bydel, a part of Stavanger that has been turned into an urban and trendy area.

Sunday 20 November 2016

St.Svithun's Church

St.Svithun's Church is name of the Catholic Church in Stavanger.
The other building is what used to be the Catholic Hospital.

Saturday 19 November 2016

Cloudy day.

HAPPY WEEKEND -
wherever you are and whatever the weather is like.

Friday 18 November 2016

Ullandhaug

Out on our morning walk today.

Thursday 17 November 2016

HAIR.

It is HAIR turned into ART.
Seen at Stavanger Maritime Museum.

Not something I had noticed before, so thanks to the guy who worked there and made me aware of this strange piece of art.

Wednesday 16 November 2016

Rain.

A grey, wet and windy day today.

Tuesday 15 November 2016

Just dumped...

Just dumped at a parking area near Vannassen / Åsen / Hillevåg.

Monday 14 November 2016

Streetart.

I seriously don't know if this is another NUART in town.
We have quite a number of (street) art on murals.

Sunday 13 November 2016

Nice design.

I really like the design of this bench at the old market place.

Saturday 12 November 2016

Breigaten

Looking at one of the shops in Breigaten, where they have started decorating for Christmas.
