We are all alike.

"Vi er alle like" or "We are all alike" is probably connected with the PRIDE festival earlier this year.
I have never seen the parade, but I guess it has developed in to a big event in Stavanger.
Politicians from several parties are taking part in the parade, and put out pictures on twitter and Facebook.
Is it all straight forward? No, we have some conservative people and some deeply religious people who have strong opinions against it, so from time to time there are big headlines in the newspapers about priests who don't want to marry couples of the same sex etc.

Cancer research.

WELL DONE to all the farmers who are supporting cancer research.

Last year with PINK plastic out on the fields ... breast cancer.
This year there are BLUE ones too. Awareness and research on prostate cancer.

Some of the money they pay for the plastic goes straight to the research!

Again, WELL DONE!

The Church City Mission...

In 2016 the Church City Mission started a campaign to knit orange coloured scarves to homeless people, or people who are less fortunate in one way or another, and who could benefit from something useful, colourful, nice and warm in the dark winter months.

I saw some in the city park last year, and I have friends who knitted several up to the day (November 1st.) when they are given out at many places around Norway.

Nine couples got married at the same time today.

TODAY was the BIG DAY for 9 couples who got married at the same time in Stavanger Cathedral.
It happened in cooperation with the food festival "GLADMAT" who provided beautiful cakes etc.
A very unique event, and a very different bunch of people.
The whole service was well done, not too formal, with music and lots of joy and happiness.

The Air Show is over for 2017.

This is another photo from SOLA AIRSHOW 2017.
The plane and people represented the Royal Netherlands Air Force, and they are heading back home tomorrow morning.

The airshow has been a success and the weather has been good.
I have never seen so many men with huge cameras, lenses that looked like they belonged to paparazzi....

They must have got some great action shots!

They are from EGERSUND ( a town south of Stavanger) and they were heading for FORUS.

It was just GREAT to be in the audience last night in SANDNES.
We had a hilarious time!

RED (and BLUE) in the weeks to come.

When I saw this van / car I thought about all the RED (and BLUE) cars that will be used for RUSS (those who are finishing school at the age of 18 or 19 and celebrating in big style just before their exams.)
There will be plenty of them out on the roads in the weeks to come.

An old tradition we got from Sweden...

It is time for FASTELAVEN (the festive season before Lent).

These decorations, named "Fastelavensris" are now sold many places all over the country.
A nice tradition, to buy or give to others.

A little pocket friend

I have a good friend and ex-colleague who always has several knitting projects and a big heart for other people.
It is just amazing how many babies who have received a welcoming gift with beautiful handmade clothes.
And it is not only her family and friends who get knitted gifts from her. Before Christmas she gave lots of handmade woollen gloves, scarves and hats to people who are less fortunate, through a centre for young drug addicts. The latest project that she is involved in is "pocket friends", small teddy bears that will be given out to children in ambulances on their way to hospital. A personal little friend .....

I took a snapshot of some of the hearts on this tree at a shopping mall.

Perhaps the winner from the red heart tree could win a dinner for TWO?

Perhaps it is commercialised, perhaps it is over the top, but whatever...

If all the adverts are real, it is the day to get cheap flights for TWO etc.etc.

MOTHER'S DAY.

It is MOTHERS DAY today!
Hopefully most sons and daughters have remembered.
I thought about it when I passed the very nice shop KARMA, and wondered if someone in town will be lucky to get this warm ultra feminine and pretty coat today.
Beautiful roses are probably appreciated by lots of mothers, no matter what age group they belong to.

KARI & JON.

I sometimes see people and think, wow, they really suit each other.
And several times this week I have met KARI and JON out walking their dog.

Of course I noticed Kari's bright pink PUSSYHAT, so she got some sort of "an extra star" from me.
She has just finished knitting number five!

I am lucky to have some American friends who took part, and even went on the marches too.

Here in Norway, Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim held marches, as many other cities did around the world. If there had been one here in Stavanger I would have been there!

Kari and Jon are a sporty couple. If you see a pink Pussyhat out in the fjords, it might be Kari out swimming. If you see Jon on land taking photos, - it is definitely them.
Since May last year she has had her own project, taking an outdoor swim once a week, and believe me it is pretty COLD now.
Well done, Kari!

Travel exhibition.

Today we have a travel exhibition in Stavanger.
Agencies and hotels showing what they have to offer.
I have to say there were very few exhibitors, compared to previous years.
Perhaps a sign of the times here in Stavanger?
