This is another photo from yesterdays walk.
It has been a week, where all the schools have had winter holiday. Many families have spent the time in cottages up in the mountains, skiing and relaxing. Here you can see an empty playground, with a sculpture...
The mountains are more obvious when they are covered in snow.
Today it has been milder with a bit of rain.... and some more snow.

How much would you have paid for a main course like this??
I was out last night, and suddenly thought that food prices probably vary quite a lot depending on where you live.
From the place: "Matmagasinet." Nice and tasty food!:-)
(The day after: I paid 198 Kroner for the food. (No drinks in that price.)
That is approx. 33,5 US dollars, or 25 Euros or 22 English pounds.)

I think the horses from yesterdays photo belonged to a nearby farm.
We have riding schools in and outside Stavanger.
Many (mostly teenage) girls spend hours in the stables, and some have their own horse.
I was thinking that it is very rare to see horses out in the streets, like I have seen so many times in the UK..... and then suddenly I met this young girl with the horse, in a residential area a 10 minute drive from the city centre....

Karsten, is studying construction engenieering and also working a couple of evenings in a shop that is open until midnight... I am soooo happy that we have a few places that are open late and also on Sundays!
If you look behind Karsten, you can see the new type of cupboard, a place to "hide" cigarettes and tobacco.

I found it a bit ironic that the car and driver had ended up here.... just in front of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, which is situated close to Stavanger airport.
The people working there have full responsibility for Southern Norway, and by that I mean on land, all ships and aircraft, and including the oil rigs out in the North Sea.
The car had gone off of the icy road. From what I could see, nobody was injured.

WOOD is this months theme days challenge, and you can see what others have chosen here: Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
WOOD is the material most houses are made of in Norway.
Today I will show you a house, that is kept in its original style, and called "Jærhus". There are only approximately 100 left in the area. One of the most typical thing is the way it is built on both sides. It was to protect against the wind, and was also a storage place.
