Today the annual "Home exhibition" started at "Stavanger Forum".
95 companies are showing their products for cottages, flats, houses and gardens, and it is a popular place to get some new ideas, and perhaps some good advice for those who are planning on redecorating.
The next two days will be crowded in there.

Finally I discovered one of my favorite statues again. It used to be outside the town hall, but for years I have been looking, but never found it.
Suddenly I saw it a few days back, in a new park area.
It is called "Communication", and it is made by the artist Solveig W. Schafferer.
Our city got it as a present from SR-Bank back in 1982.

The boy, who is standing in front of his mum, came over to me and asked if I wanted to support the TV campaign yesterday afternoon.

Some people find time to do some voluntary work, and last night I met two of them who are out working for "Natte-Ravnene" (http://www.natteravn.no/finn-gruppe/)
TOR - ARNE and SIV are out on the streets in Stavanger from 21.00 until 02.00 once a month, together with several other adults in our city/suburbs (This also happens in many other places in Norway).
They work together with the police as well as ambulance staff.
Children and teenagers are sometimes in need of someone who can help.
Some adults might close their eyes and say that alcohol, drugs and violence does not exist !
But unfortunately there are more things happening than we like to admit.
It is an organization that will celebrate it's 20.th anniversary next year.
They all wear the same type of colorful anoraks, and are easy to spot!
An important job, and I am sure that youngsters and parents can be very greatful for all the times they have managed to help, or avoid a disaster developing.

Every autumn I have the opportunity to go to some events where authors / writers are invited to talk about their new books, and read for us who are actually selling their books.
Last night there were several interesting books on the program!
This is Ari Behn, (http://www.newsinenglish.no/2011/09/19/comeback-for-ari-behn/)
He is well known in Norway.

Everyone who is living in the Stavanger region, and are interested, can pick up a FREE book like this one you see here from the library. I will add it on my pile of books that I will read in the months to come. It is made "cartoon style"...... written/created by Lene Ask, and the title says " Hitler, Jesus and granddad."
We have had a couple of days with no rain!
Fantastic!
Have a nice weekend you too.

"Madame" he said with a big smile..... and the service minded man, Chris from Utrecht /Holland, continued to ask if I wanted to buy some Dutch cheese.
Well, it was early morning, and I did not buy any, but perhaps later this week?
He and a group of other international salesman are selling food products at our marked place this week, and then they are off to Kongsberg (Outside Oslo), and later several other places, before they are back in Stavanger again for a Christmas market.

Bus "0" / "zero" is free, and takes you around the city centre.
It has a different color from the normal buses, and is easy to spot.
I have never tried it, and I have not seen many people using it. But it might be ok when the snow and ice cover the landscape. It will be in use for the rest of the year, and if the politicians find more tax money, and if this is a popular bus to use, it might continue next year as well.
The bus uses biodiesel !;)

"The British Amateur Theatre Society" has been active here in Stavanger for many years.
(Take a look at bats.no)
Today I went to see them in action at the Humor Festival.
They are all just amateurs, but they seemed much more like seasoned professionals.
I really enjoyed their performance "1001 Arabian Nights"

This is a statue named "Go`dagen" (Good Day) or as many in Stavanger have nicknamed her; "Kånå". ( The wife)
Anyway, it used to be at the market place, and was something of a landmark, but now it has been moved to a more hidden place.
She has a twin sister in Trondheim, (Norway`s 3rd biggest city ) who I saw just outside the tourist office.
The artist who made the statue is Tone Thiis Schetne.
