Leaving Stavanger?

It is soon a long weekend for most people who are not working tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.


This is a corner at one of the airports restaurants & coffee places, if you are going to use one of the International flights.

There are several pictures of cows...... and you can even see some real ones on the way to the airport!
Still quite a lot of farmland close to the airport.

No tagging....

I walked by the Cathedral one day and suddenly saw this.
It looked like some sort of tagging, but thank God it was only the light making reflections.
Some time back, there were some crazy people who damaged the famous window by throwing stones! These days it is being restored by specialists from the famous Nidarosdomen in Trondheim.

MUNCH's art in Sandnes.

Edvard Munch (1863 - 1944) is probably the most famous artist we have had in Norway.

One of his lithographs was sold this weekend at an auction house in Sandnes (the nearest town to Stavanger and about 20 minutes by car)

This is just a snapshot of the art. It is a portrait of Munchs Swedish friend Johan August Strindberg.
And it costed more than most people could/would pay.
Well, I guess it is an investment.

Most Norwegians who have been to Oslo have visited the famous and fantastic Munch Museum.
Lots of tourists also have that on the list of "what to do" when visiting the Norwegian capital.

A small window.

A small window at The Cathedral.

Here they come....

Here they come, 3 dogs out in an area owned by the council, where they can run and play freely.

The biggest one has a GPS connected to his collar.
Life as a dog can be a bit "complicated" sometimes.

Nilsen & Wold.

Middle aged people will remember this house "Nilsen & Wold" as a popular pub with karaoke and lively evenings.

Some time back the student organisation wanted to use it as their HOUSE in town.
But it ended with a problem and was not allowed to serve alcohol, basically because
there were too many places nearby that were already licensed.
(Strict political and geographic rules here.)

Time will show if it will be filled with people again, or rented out as office space?

Further back you see mountains, but the landscape around the city and along the coast is mainly flat.

Stavanger,- the oil capital.

I have just watched the news, and I saw an image similar to this....
Perhaps the camera people where there at the same time as I passed and also looked at the big supply boats along the harbour?

The news was about the effect that the oil industry has had on Stavanger (the oil capital) and Norway in general. I guess some people were right, we would probably managed with less money, less clothes, fewer holidays and perhaps only one car and not thrown away so much food etc.

Our country changed 50 years ago........when we found the oil.

These days safe jobs in the oil industry are not so safe anymore.

The Geo Park.

The Geo Park, is a popular place for kids and today also our dog.
It is situated just outside The Oil Museum, near the harbour.

Sunshine?

Less chance for sunshine today,
but always smart to have sunglasses ready, you never know.

Smart Yellow Car.

This lucky woman was spotted out cruising yesterday in her very smart bright "Easter coloured" car.

It is COLD and sunny. And a day for catching some vitamin D's.

Visiting Stavanger.

Lina ( to the left) were showing Neringa and Liole around in Stavanger.
They are all from Kaunas in Lithuania, but Lina is now living here.
