Suddenly we got a sunny start to Sunday.

After all the rain we have had, it was a nice surprise to wake up to a blue sky, sunshine and even though the wind was a bit colder than usual... it made a good start to the day.

A British Naval ship was in town.

The flag was blowing in the wind.

And some of you might even see "a face" in it?

NATO have some military warships out in the fjords north of Stavanger.

This weekend they are based at our harbour, and some were open to the public today.

Norways Liberation Day

It is our Liberation Day today.
Actually it is 70 years today, since the war was over and Norway was free again .
Flags are up, and the veterans have received their medals, some presented by the king, some by politicians and some given out by different majors.

The news had interviews with people who were in the navy, and those who came back suffering from trauma and perhaps struggled for many many years to talk about what they had been through.

Todays image is a tribute to all of those who actually did a tremendous job in the navy.

The NATO mine countermeasures force that were here, consisted of seven vessels.

I was surprised to learn that there are still more than a thousand mines, left over from WW11, lying along the Norwegian coast.

The harbour has visitors from different Nato member Navies this weekend, and the public had the opportunity to visit onboard for most of the vessels.
