"Norway Chess  2013 "is a "happening event" at the moment, in and (mainly) around Stavanger city.

This picture shows ONE way to advertise the tournament.
The game was set up at one of the cafe/restaurants at the airport.....

But the International Chess players are playing in hotels, and some are probably watching day after day!

So who is taking part?

Of course the famous Norwegian player Magnus Carlsen, and also very good players like Veselin Topalov, Viswanathan Anand, Levon Aronian, Hikaru Nakamura, Wang Hao, Peter Svindler, Jon Ludvig Hammer, Sergey Karjakin and Teimour Radjabov.....

I played when I was younger, but wasn't very good at it...

Interesting idea....

Doronette in Bosnia/Herzegovina had a post a week or so ago where there was a big chess board on the ground in a park. I don't suppose the famous pros who come to Stavanger would care to play outside with so many distractions?

Nicely composed, Gunn. Chess isn't as popular as it once was, I think.

Nice perspective, makes the pieces look enormous! And clever advertising:)

Never did learn how to play chess. Probably 'cause it takes too much brainpower and I need all that I can get for everyday stuff!

Read yesterday that Norway was one of the best places in the world to raise children; along with Finland and Sweden! Maybe I should return to the land of my forefathers?

Fantastic composition, Gunn! My father was a great player.
