A scene from Stavanger.

This  is one out of 10 different designs used for wall plates by Stavanger Lions Club.
It's from 1977 and illustrated by Henry Imsland, who was famous for his political caricature work via our main newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad.

Retro and vintage style.

Today treasures from the 60's and 70's are very popular by young people.
Every HOME magazine shows retro items together with green plants.
Charity shops are doing well when giving their items a second chance in new homes.
This is a pattern that was common in many homes and cottages for decades.

What does the fox say?

This is a vintage plate from the 1960´s named "The fox" and decorated by Ridley Borchgrevink.
It is one of the trendy vintage things that young people are collecting from Stavangerflint.

(Well, I have only seen one real fox in my life, and that was at a parking area next to a tube station in the north of London.)

Vintage.

Between 1946 and 1979 we had a factory STAVANGER FLINT here in Stavanger, that produced items that were very popular in Norway and Scandinavia, but also exported to 28 countries. Today people all over the world who are collectors can be lucky to find these items via internet.

This is a design by Jonas Hinna, who lived and worked in Stavanger most of his life.
(He also worked as a decor painter in the USA for 5 years)

This is part of a collection, named "Norske Bunader", that means Norwegian National Costumes, and this represents the area Telemark.
On the other side it is decorated with mountains and skiers, also well known for the place and ski technique named Telemark.

The stave church "Heddal" is famous.
