Parking in Stavanger can be difficult, annoying and also expensive.
But not paying for your parking can be worse....

Here is one ticket, and the car owner has to pay 500,-
or even more than 700 Norwegian kroner!!
I understand that people doing this kind of job, have a job to do.
BUT where has the politeness and the service gone? I have seen SOME of them being so rude to people, even to shop owners who were delivering big boxes in to their own shops. No mercy.
I was right, they are payed well, and do get a very good bonus for each ticket they print out...

One more thing, make sure you get your ticket from the right machine..... There are many different zones with different machines. Pick the wrong machine for the zone that you park in and it can be very expensive.....

They are crazy! I can't understand that it can be legal for them to pay bonuses. And putting up a couple of ticket machines outside a doctor's office (as is the case at legevakten) should also be forbidden. How are you supposed to find out about your stupid parking ticket with a sick child in your arms, or if you're sick yourself?? It's horrendous!

It just doesn't work for well for people to be paid according to how many tickets they write...I've heard some cities here give policeman a quota with regard to tickets - they must write so many a week or a month...

That's wrong!

Oh dear! Parking seems to be a problem in so many cites. Here if you don't pay your fines you cannot renew your license. Better to pay the fine, right?

Same ugly problem everywhere, I see. One of the few plus of not owning a car!

I think I'll take a cab when visiting your city.

In my city parking is not enforced at all (except maybe if you want to park near the presidential residence) and the result is that everyone parks on the sidewalk with no regards for the pedestrians. I'm not saying I wish for people to get 50 euro fines but no law is not good either.
