From Germany.

This is Emma, the little dog, and the couple she lives a happy life together with.
They are from Wuppertal in Germany.
The day that I met them, they had been staying near the beach for the night and had breakfast when I was starting the morning  walk with our dog. We had a chat and I was told that they had already been to the Pulpit Rock and then off to take a look at Stavanger city before heading further north on the west coast.
Nice meeting you, and I will always remember the famous thing you told me about your hometown.

Mike and Lawrence.

Mike and Lawrence from Devon / England, where out and about in Stavanger today.
They were looking for something special, and I hope they got help from the place I recommended.
Anyway, they are on a cruise ship, and after the stop here they are going to Bergen, Flåm etc.
Lucky guys!

We were in to a discussion about lunch deals in the UK from supermarkets, .... "here we have to take a loan if we are buying something" Mike said with a grin.
But one thing surprised me, they said HA' DET when I had to rush to reach my appointment.
Nice meeting you.
Enjoy your holiday!

Steve and Marion.

STEVE and MARION are visiting Stavanger today.
They are from Boston / Massachusatts / USA.
Now they are lucky to travel around with the cruise ship VIKING SEA.

They told me that they had been on a trip to Voss yesterday, and had a great Constitution Day.

Marion is also a volunteer on the cruise ship, giving lectures on places they are going to visit.
Nice meeting them both.

From Hungary.

They looked happy, even on a grey Sunday morning in town.

This is Ildi and her mother Aranka from Hungary.
They had just arrived from Budapest / Hungary and were now having a quick look around Stavanger, before going by bus to Haugesund where they are staying until later this week.

And they have also planned a day trip to Utsira.
I asked how they found information about where to go.
Google... was the answer. So I guess guidebooks might be OUT these days.

I hope they will have lots of good memories from their holiday.

Nice meeting you!

From Bangkok to Stavanger.

This is Warut and Kratai from Bangkok.
They are having a two weeks holiday in Norway.
And they have explored places like Oslo, Flåm, Bergen and the Pulpit Rock.
Now it was time for Stavanger.
A nice couple, and looking very smart & trendy.

Soon you are back home, to your city and your own company.
I hope you will have even more good memories with you after the stop in Stavanger.
Nice meeting you both!

The name was HI OCEAN ONE.
And I read Gdansk.... if I remember rightly.

Have a safe and nice journey!

From Germany.

The result after yesterday´s posting:
Our conservative PM Erna Solberg will continue as our prime minister.
Some small & big changes for some of the many political parties.
..................................................................................................................

This German family had been lucky on Saturday to walk up to the famous PULPIT ROCK in sunshine! The little girl managed it without any problems, so well done!

I just met them in town on the very rainy Sunday we had.
They were heading north for Haugesund later in the day.

I pointed out on the map where to find the Childrens Museum and also Old Stavanger on the other side of the harbour.

Nice meeting you.
I hope you will be back ( as you said ) and that the weather will be better than this week.

HAPPY HOLIDAY!

Touring Europe.

As most of you know, we have some very narrow roads here in Norway.
This is the biggest RV I have seen this summer. The Canadian couple who owned it had the car towed behind it. Inside they had a boat.... And they were heading to the Stavanger region, so drive carefully if you meet them. It is huge!

PS. I did not tell them about all the roadworks, nor about the fact that Stavanger is the Norwegian city with most roundabouts.

I hope they have a great time and that they will see lots of sunny days too.

It should be easy to spot...

It should be easy to spot THE TOURIST INFORMATION office.
A bright colour, close to the harbour and old Stavanger.

Biker tour.

They had all been working in different African countries with various jobs such as aid workers.
Six of them were Swedish and two came from Norway.
For eleven years now, they have had an annual MC tour.
This time they were touring in Norway, and as some of them said, these trips are a real highlight of the year, something to always look forward to.
"Grabbarna" as they referred themselves to, had high spirits, and even gave a "private piano and song concert" at the coffee place at Hå Gamle Prestegård.
Thanks!
It was a pleasure to meet you all!
Safe journey on the wet Norwegian roads, because today it has been pouring down most places on the south west coast of Norway.

Jörg and Silvia from Vienna

This is Jörg and Silvia from Vienna /Austria.
They had arrived in Oslo a few days back, and had picked up their UK registered rental Campervan there, before heading south, and yesterday going to Lysebotn (a popular destination for many tourists in this area).

Nice talking with you.
I hope you enjoy Stavanger!
The weather is not so good, and I guess you are pleased for not sleeping in a tent just now.

From Kuala Lumpur to Stavanger.

It was nice to meet this group of tourists from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia.)
I wish that I had more time to ask them about their trip.
But they had flown from Kuala Lumpur to Oslo, and started their bus trip with a stop in Stavanger, later continuing to Bergen, Geiranger and Molde, before heading back to Oslo for the return to Malaysia.

They were busy filming and photographing nuart murals around the town, and I showed them a few more up the road.

To all of you; HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY!

Anton and Margareth.

What a lovely sunny day!

This couple ANTON and MARGARETH from the Netherlands were passengers on one of the cruise ships that visited our city today.
They had been visiting Stavanger 10 years ago, and thought it had changed. Difficult for me to say what has changed, but this time they had no rain, so that was good.
They will continue the cruise to Kristiansand and Oslo before heading back home via a few more stops.
Home is "Sweet lake city,"as  ZOETERMEER is called, and it is situated half way between The Hague and Rotterdam.

Why do all Dutch people speak English so well?
I don't know.

Anyway, have a nice holiday Anton and Margareth.

The tourists are here.

Queen Elizabeth, - the cruise ship is in Stavanger.
Out in the rain are a huge number of British tourists.
Most places are closed.
The weather is unpredictable, so hopefully they will get some
sunshine too.

English Gentlemen.

These 3 English gentlemen told me that they had had a wonderful time on the great cruise ship; "Viking Sea".
They had visited St. Petersburg and Copenhagen. Now it was Stavanger and then up to Bergen.
They were going back to the ship to have their international lunch, before going on a tour around Stavanger. Well, I hope you were ok.
There was plenty of rain, thunder and even some hail just a few hours after this photo was taken....
