BATON ROUGE

A luxury yacht at the port.
The American owner of this beautiful yacht is arriving later this week.
I asked one of the people who was busy looking after this nine year old beauty, BATON ROUGE made in the Netherlands .... about a few things, but of course, he was not allowed to give out information.
Well, I hope they will have a really good time in Norway.

HI OCEAN ONE

A Polish registrated sailing vessel has been seen in Stavanger.
The name was HI OCEAN ONE.
And I read Gdansk.... if I remember rightly.

A German made beauty at the harbour.

This huge private yacht, also seen in yesterdays image, has been built in Germany.
The owner lives in the Middle East.
Luxury and beautiful design!
(Including swimming pool, beauty saloon and spa, space for a helicopter pad etc.)

Why it was in Stavanger is unknown, but the newspapers are referring to EU regulations, and saying that if it goes to a harbour outside EU, get the papers stamped, the owner can than get the VAT back.
In this case it would be around 190 million N.kr.

As some of you already know, I am always happy to meet happy people wearing happy colours!
We have a nice sunny day today!
 It feels good with a bit of warmth and spring in the air.

PS. The yacht did not belong to the couple.

Sunday turned out to be just perfect!
And what a beauty I saw at the harbour this morning.
She came from Oslo and next stop will be Scotland.
The two guys who I had a quick chat with,
had planned a long adventure with her.

Don't you think that could be a holiday to remember in surroundings like this.

I asked the crew where they were heading, and the Irish guy told me about LYSEFJORD and heading north to ÅLESUND....

So look out for her if you are on the west coast of Norway now.

Next week the schools are closed.

The schools have just given all the pupils and teachers a weeks holiday. Some might be going away, even abroad, others will just relax at home. Anyway, happy weekend and happy holidays!

And the fjords are popular for smaller boats too.

SIGRID en BERNT

I just met this couple Sigrid and Bernt from the Netherlands.

Well, Bernt's father came from Norway.
So my question was of course: Do you speak Norwegian?
No, he said.... only "stiv kuling" (Gale, in English :-)
They have had plenty of wind, and last night, thunder and lightening and plenty of rain too.
Today turned out to be ok with sunshine and temperatures up to +18 C
They had visited Flor & Fjære and were impressed about that!
Food prices (and going out for a meal) was extremely expensive they said.
I think they are not alone with that experience.

The lucky couple will be on holiday until the end of September.

I wished them a good and safe journey.
Next stop might be Oslo?

The yacht club at Jåttåvågen.

In Stavanger there are yacht clubs, sometimes with long waiting lists to get a berth for a boat.
This is just one of them down at the yacht club in Jåttåvågen.
The weather is not very pleasant at the moment. Here you see a view over Gandsfjord with the mountains on the other side.

One of the crew members told me that it was going to head north...
