A nice fish soup.

Today we were four ex-colleagues meeting up
for lunch.
I had a nice fish soup, and that was a good choice and very tasty.

From Kuala Lumpur to Stavanger.

It was nice to meet this group of tourists from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia.)
I wish that I had more time to ask them about their trip.
But they had flown from Kuala Lumpur to Oslo, and started their bus trip with a stop in Stavanger, later continuing to Bergen, Geiranger and Molde, before heading back to Oslo for the return to Malaysia.

They were busy filming and photographing nuart murals around the town, and I showed them a few more up the road.

To all of you; HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY!

The tourists are here.

Queen Elizabeth, - the cruise ship is in Stavanger.
Out in the rain are a huge number of British tourists.
Most places are closed.
The weather is unpredictable, so hopefully they will get some
sunshine too.

Good morning.

Good morning!
A sunny and COLD day today.

A building that I like in Østervåg.

CLOSED

So many shops have closed / are closing for good in Østervåg.
What is wrong?
Do we use the shopping malls outside the city centre, and don't use the city for shopping anymore?
Thanks to Italian BENETTON who have sold nice warm and colourful clothes for years.
The last few years there has been too much "Sisley" in the shop, so they have not earned much on me as a customer.

Ilse Jacobsen, Tommy Hilfiger are two other brands have also
given up.
Shopping malls or internet?

Pure Evil art.

PURE EVIL art, is in town.
I am not joking, it is the British artist Charles Uzzell-Edwards artistic name.

Thanks to "google" I managed to find out more about the art.

If you walk around at Østervåg, you can see it on the corner of one of the narrow side roads.

More info. you will find here:

Childhood memory?

Do you remember when you where a child... and the joy around Christmas?
I passed "the most old fashioned shop" in Østervåg, and this made me smile.

Aesthetically pleasing...

Listen...
A new coffee place, that is so much MORE than "just a coffee place" has opened.
You should check out the place that is in Østervåg.
The name is KOKKO.

If you like quality go and enjoy the place!
It is aesthetically pleasing....

Good to see a place like this in our town!

Is it over for Le Cafè Français?

No French flag outside, no tables and chairs.
It used to be a popular place, where the owner from Algeria imported French Bakery items, and served coffee and light snacks.

Some will say, sad that it has closed, others will say it was about time!

Well, the newspapers have been writing about a place that is not run according to Norwegian rules.
People who where not allowed to stay in Norway, who did not even have work permission worked there illegally.

LEAP DAY .

It is LEAP DAY today.
The day when a woman can propose to a man.

It only happens on February 29th.
And it is four years until next time, so FACE the day and do it if you want:)

MÆHLE has been in town since 1896.

Mæhle has been selling clothes as far back as 1896.
But now they are selling their shop(s) to the German company Gerry Weber. I hope they will do well!
A bit sad that more and more family owned shops are giving up.

Coffee or tea?

It is nice to have some small independent shops in town, and this place at Østervaag is a good place for buying coffee, tea etc.

A mural seen in Østervåg.

Looking down.

Walking through Østervåg, I noticed these two inscriptions....
It tells some dreadful facts about what happened to two of the Jewish people living in our city during the war. They were sent to Auschwitz. The small Jewish community in Stavanger did not survive the war!

STYLE.

Some shops have more style than others.
