Fleemarket at the Clarion Hotel.

Yesterday Clarion Hotel had a flee market.
All the money went straight to an organisation "Kreftforeningen"
An important national organisation that has to do with cancer / cancerawarness.
Lots of people had given items like clothes, shoes, toys, books, bags, furniture etc.
And lots of people turned up, so I guess the result must have been very good.

Well done to CLARION HOTEL in Stavanger!

Blowing in the wind.

Gosh, what a night and what a day!

The wind and the big puddles of water....
We should have been using the 4X4, not the little cabriolet!

Luckily we did NOT get this on the cabriolet!
Someones trampoline landed on the cycle path/pavement.

And shortly after, and with a bit of good help, our car was back up on the country road after getting  stuck in a big water filled hole.

The car is parked in the garage, and the wind is even stronger now than this morning.

Early morning.

Early morning walk.
This was before the rain and wind turned the afternoon and evening in to REAL autumn.
Good to have a nice and relaxed weekend!

Friday, 27 October 2017

Hafrsfjord area.

Looking out over the Hafrsfjord area.
Some autumn colours.

The Fishmarket.

Reflection from a window at the fish market at Vågen.

Tuesday, 24 October 2017

Asta and Jenny.

Asta and Jenny are full time pupils, but also working part time during the weeks /weekends.
You will find the fairly new PINK Ice Cream House at Kirkegaten / Churchroad.
I had heard people saying that the place was famous for good ice cream so I gave it a try on a not so warm autumn Sunday.

The taste was very good, but it melted too quickly.
Service was top and the place will probably do well, so central and also places to sit inside.

Looking good.

We have got another sunny day.
The city looks pretty.

Happy Monday!

Sunday, 22 October 2017

Sunny Sunday.

We have a sunny Sunday today!

Feels good!

On our citywalk today I found todays model, who was busy at work on a big tug vessel.

We are all alike.

"Vi er alle like" or "We are all alike" is probably connected with the PRIDE festival earlier this year.
I have never seen the parade, but I guess it has developed in to a big event in Stavanger.
Politicians from several parties are taking part in the parade, and put out pictures on twitter and Facebook.
Is it all straight forward? No, we have some conservative people and some deeply religious people who have strong opinions against it, so from time to time there are big headlines in the newspapers about priests who don't want to marry couples of the same sex etc.

HaPpY weekend!

HaPpy weekend!
Have FUN!

Outside the pub CARDINAL

Perhaps the pub sign is new, or maybe it is just me looking UP and seeing things differently?
One thing is for sure; this is a pub that has a very good range of different types of beer.
Stavanger wants to be known for the good choices of beers, festivals and events.
But Trondheim city (further north) wants the same, so I guess there is some sort of competition going on.

Less than 10 days ago....

Less than 10 days ago,
when the sun was out and the sky was BLUE.

Monday, 16 October 2017

Yesterday I visited Skur2, where Sunderø Gallery have an art exhibition with four artist showing contemporary artwork / pencil drawings.

This "Newborn Gray Whale" by the artist Solveig Bergene was already bought by a private collector.
(Probably a person with lots of space at home.)

The work measures 220 x 450 cm.

If you have a chance to go there, take a good look at the whale's EYE.

Two happy sisters.

Two happy sisters on their way to the cinema to watch the film "Elias".
I asked their parents for permission to take and publish the photo.

They looked so smart with their very feminine outfits!

It seems to be a popular thing to do on Sundays .... go to the cinema, I mean.

IVAR SKEI music shop

The unique and the BEST music shop I know about in all of Norway are closing their doors today!
After more than 100 years in business in Sandnes.

Nobody I know can match their knowledge in music, whatever field! Always service minded too.
Liv Reidun has been working there for 40 years and has created a cultural institution for a huge number of people, and she has also sold music at many festivals and concerts over the years.

Now times have changed, and many people buy music via the internet.

I feel sad when quality shops disappear, and in particular this one!

Today there was live music & a concert in the shop .... lots of grateful people, lots of flowers and lots of hugs!

Thank you Liv Reidun Gramstad! (Seen as number 3 from the left in todays photo.)

Johanna and her little brother.

This is Johanna and her little brother.
The bronze statue is made by Svein Magnus Håvarstein.
It has been one of my favourites for many years.
It was given to the city, by Stavanger Aftenblad, our biggest local newspaper back in 1993.
"Johanna og Broremann" and the story by Ajax is well known for families from our area.

I also like the NUART version on the mural /wall by Ernest Zacharevic.

Cancer research.

WELL DONE to all the farmers who are supporting cancer research.

Last year with PINK plastic out on the fields ... breast cancer.
This year there are BLUE ones too. Awareness and research on prostate cancer.

Some of the money they pay for the plastic goes straight to the research!

AMPPARRITO from Spain.

AMPPARRITO from Spain is the young artist of this fascinating art.
Part of NUART here in Stavanger.

From Bangkok to Stavanger.

This is Warut and Kratai from Bangkok.
They are having a two weeks holiday in Norway.
And they have explored places like Oslo, Flåm, Bergen and the Pulpit Rock.
Now it was time for Stavanger.
A nice couple, and looking very smart & trendy.

Soon you are back home, to your city and your own company.
I hope you will have even more good memories with you after the stop in Stavanger.
Nice meeting you both!

Well done & Happy faces.

Todays image is from Bore beach, south of Stavanger.
Also from Eurosurf 2017.

Well done to the team from Scotland !

This is Mark "Scratch" Cameron in red, and Mark Boyd.

Sunday, 8 October 2017

Today was day 2 at Eurosurf 2017, which is south of Stavanger this year.
I have never seen so many people on the beach.
Sunny day.
Here you see some of the Irish team together with the team manager to the left.
Best of luck!
Keep warm and do come back another time, when the water is not so cold!

Saturday, 7 October 2017

A Polish registrated sailing vessel has been seen in Stavanger.
The name was HI OCEAN ONE.
And I read Gdansk.... if I remember rightly.

Have a safe and nice journey!

Friday, 6 October 2017

Sunshine today.

We had sunshine earlier today.
Lucky for all the people who were not working and able to enjoy it.
Keep warm and have a nice weekend!
This is a glimpse of one of several old wooden Sea Houses.
Now used for big events, like the October Festival etc.

Thursday, 5 October 2017

The artist TREF is actually Therese Refvik from Stavanger, a young woman who have been putting up her art several places in town.

This one is one of my favourites.

More heavy rain.

Just the way it is just NOW!

Tuesday, 3 October 2017

Men at work...

One of the tourist boats is getting a rinse.

Monday, 2 October 2017

Rain & Storm.

We have had so much RAIN, and last night also included STORM!
Several places have floods ...... and than we suddenly from time to time see a bit of sunshine.
Here is a reflection from the harbour area.

Sunday, 1 October 2017

Suddenly we got a sunny start to Sunday.

After all the rain we have had, it was a nice surprise to wake up to a blue sky, sunshine and even though the wind was a bit colder than usual... it made a good start to the day.

A British Naval ship was in town.

The flag was blowing in the wind.

And some of you might even see "a face" in it?

Keep warm and enjoy the rest of Sunday!
