Halloween.

Halloween celebrations have become more common here in Norway.
Kids have parties, and nightclubs have free entrance for people wearing scary outfits.
HAVE FUN!

PARADIS (the train station)

A view from the train windows.
Reflections and autumn colours.

Streetlife.

If you are in Norway you will have felt the rain, seen the news on TV, or read the newspapers.
Lots of places have FLOODS, and seeing houses as well as cars, moving, carried along by rivers, is  not very nice!!

Here in Stavanger we have had a lot of rain but no flooding. But today, we have had a glimpse of sunshine.

This is an image taken near the Cathedral.

Florists window.

Always nice to take a look when passing my favourite florist shop in town.

Rain and colours.

It is quiet out in the rain....

Sunday 26 October 2014

Always something new to learn.

The author Knut F. Thoresen gave a speech today at the library about his new book. ("Til Norge for å dø"). It is about the life as Serbian slaves in German camps around in Norway during World War 2. (More than 4000 of them, and many of them died here in Norway!)

I had an image of Norwegians who gave food and helped some of the prisoners escape to Sweden.
That is what we learned at school (a long time ago).
But here I found myself hearing about Norwegians who worked for the Germans, as prison guards!

I left (for work) before the whole thing was finished, with a question about what we actually have learned from history..... Watching the news on TV really makes me wonder.

Saturday 25 October 2014

Lazy evening tonight.

Just a relaxed evening at home.
A bit of pie and a glass or two of red wine, watching TV and relaxing after more than 8 hours at work.
It is pouring down with rain outside.
Good to be home and do "nothing" from time to time.

Friday 24 October 2014

Rain-rain-rain.

It will be a RAINY weekend here in the Stavanger area.
I hope that wherever you are,
you have a better weekend than us :)

Thursday 23 October 2014

ei me alt!

This is an image taken a week back.
It was sunny and I just stopped for a few minutes and had a look....

Today it is completely different ..... it has been raining non stop!
And there is more rain to come.

If you wonder what "ei me alt" is (on the umbrella), then I can tell you that the guy (in blue) is selling hotdogs, and the phrase is typical dialect, and means a hotdog served with all types of extras (one with everything).

Saturday 18 October 2014

The railway station.

This is the railway station in Stavanger.
(The last stop on the route that takes about 7-8 hours from Oslo.)
Well, this is a small local train, used by commuters between Stavanger and Egersund.
An easy "green" way to travel for those living close to the railway.

Friday 17 October 2014

A window display.

It is getting colder......
Time to use the warm woollen clothes!

H&M near the Cathedral, have made a new creative display.

Happy weekend, - and keep warm!

Thursday 16 October 2014

A house on the move.

Looks like a very old house that will soon be moved and
be rebuilt somewhere else.

Wednesday 15 October 2014

A face.

Tuesday 14 October 2014

A sunny day!

What a wonderful day we have had here in Stavanger today!
This is a view over Breiavatnet. (The lake in the city park area.)

Monday 13 October 2014

The worlds smallest dog.

Today I saw the worlds smallest dog.
500 grams and nearly 8 weeks old.
A "Prague Ratter".

SUSA is the name of this dog, and the owners were on their way back home to Oslo.

I hope the flight went well, and that the new home and 5 other dogs will provide lots of love and happiness!

Sunday 12 October 2014

Roadwork.

There is so much roadwork going on in Stavanger at the moment, that some of the workers have to live on the site in temporary housing.

Saturday 11 October 2014

ZARA will arrive just here.

The Spanish fashion store, ZARA, is being built here, just where the huge crane is.
It has taken time.... and work will continue for quite a bit longer.
Well, I think it will be a popular place for shopping, and increase the number of people walking up and down the whole of Kirkegaten / The Churchroad.

Friday 10 October 2014

Autumn colours.

Yesterday afternoon at Arnageren, the place outside the Culture House.
This week the schools have had their Autumn Holiday, so many families have gone away for a week.
It is quiet, with fewer people and less traffic around.

On my blog page, you can see the same tree in different seasons, by clicking on the label under the text.

GOD HELG! Happy weekend!

Thursday 9 October 2014

The yacht FUNCHAL visited Stavanger today.

I guess the passengers on "Funchal" were having a good time , even with the rain and wind.
A nice old cruise ship, old-fashioned looking, but when I googled the name, I saw that it has had a long and interesting life, different owners and plenty of new things to replace the old, including the engine.
The link is here:

KISS & KISS & KISS.

If you go to the airport there are a lot of roadwork going on just outside the terminal building.
So you have to go through the parking area. But don't worry about paying if you are just dropping someone off at the airport, or picking someone up, it is free for 15 minutes.

You can KISS & KISS & KISS .....

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Friday 3 October 2014
