A sunny hot day!

What a great day!
Just a day to enjoy.
I have not been to any shops, not to Kvadrat where the image was taken yesterday.
Have a nice weekend!

The sky is BLUE

The sky is BLUE, and most places here on the southwest of Norway have had temperatures higher than +20C today.

There are lots of events in the Stavanger area.

The "bird" is a bird scarer kite.

Enjoy the weekend!

ELENA from Romania.

We have had a rainy day, just like the day I took this photo in Kirkegaten / Churchroad.
This is ELENA from Romania, who is living in Stavanger with her husband.
Nice meeting you, Elena!

The tourists are here.

Queen Elizabeth, - the cruise ship is in Stavanger.
Out in the rain are a huge number of British tourists.
Most places are closed.
The weather is unpredictable, so hopefully they will get some
sunshine too.

NORDSTJERNEN built in 1956 used to be part of the HURTIGRUTEN fleet.
Seen here leaving Stavanger.
Looking good!
If I had had the chance I would have enjoyed a trip.

The SUN is shining in Stavanger.

Thursday, 18 May 2017

"Sinnataggen" is in town.

The Spitfire or Sinnataggen as we call the famous statue by Vigeland, in Frognerparken / Oslo, has now turned up as art on a wall near the harbour here in Stavanger.
(More images I found when I googled LASTAA.)

Wednesday, 17 May 2017

Today is our National Day.

(I have not been to Stavanger today, but if you are interested to see what it looked like you can take a look at this.
My image is from Vågen.

Tuesday, 16 May 2017

Drive carefully.

Well done, to the person who came up with the idea to paint the boring parking area, and to add a warning written in dialect, saying that we have to be aware of all the cars so we don't bang in to them.
Too many car parks looks so depressing and dark, so this is a nice change.

Lord and Lady Scott.

Lord and Lady Scott have popped over from London this weekend.
Here they are photographed at "Kremmerhuset"eating a cake decorated for our National Day next week.

They have been doing touristy activities from eating fishcakes from the fish market, to visiting the monuments "The Three Swords".

If you hurry up...

If you are in Stavanger and hurry up, you will have the chance to go and see the exhibition at BGE Contemporary Art Projects in this old building before the end of this week.
After the summer the gallery will open in a new building close to the roundabout at Kannik.

A big dog out swimming in the Figgjo river.

Number 27.

If you like STAVANGER DAILY PHOTO on Facebook, or are one of the people who has followed my blog over the years, you can WIN these chocolates, from the company shown in yesterdays posting.

The only thing you have to do is to leave a comment or just 27 ( the house number where you find Chili Chocolate in the narrow little street SØREGATA.)

The draw will be TUESDAY evening, and will be sent the winner on Wednesday.

Saturday, 6 May 2017

Market day today.

We have had a beautiful Saturday!
Sunshine and +18C

In town we had a proper market day, with several locale quality products sold outside the Cathedral.

Here you see CHILI chocolate products made in the city centre.

Tomorrow there will be a "give away".

Russ from Egersund.

RUSS ( Students celebrating 13 years at school) who I met at a petrol station.
They are from EGERSUND ( a town south of Stavanger) and they were heading for FORUS.
They will be back at KONGEPARKEN next weekend!
Have fun young ladies!

E-type Jaguar.

This is just a snapshot taken on the E39, heading north, close to the junction to Kvadrat/Sandnes.
It was a beauty out on the road. "I am pretty sure it is an E-type Jaguar" my husband said.
Perhaps he is right. One thing is for sure, now is the time to get them out on the road.... no rain the next few days.

Saturday, 29 April 2017

A sign....

A sign can be so much more than "just a sign".
I like this creative and artistic sign to show where to find the Botanical Garden.
Unfortunately, the artist is unknown and not mentioned on the sign.

Friday, 28 April 2017

Car accident.

Car accident late this afternoon....
Only one person involved, but the car did not look good,- even worse on the other side, with a barrier straight through the car!

Thursday, 27 April 2017

Evening sky.

Evening sky.
+7C, no snow & no rain.

Wednesday, 26 April 2017

Mathilde Christiane.

If you have been to Sola Strand Hotell, you might have noticed this; Mathilde Christiane, looking at you from the reception area. She was at the front of a Swedish shipwreck found back in 1822 on the coast just outside the hotel.

Tuesday, 25 April 2017

Suddenly snow this morning.

I was a bit surprised this morning by the amount of snow this late in April.

Monday, 24 April 2017

If you google "RUSS and NORWAY" you will find several images of people dressed in RED or BLUE clothes, decorated and looking quite strange to people who do not know what is going on.

Young people have started celebrating finishing their 13 years at school, that is the reason.

Some German tourists I met in town thought they were out demonstrating, but they are just having a good time at school and perhaps even more so outside the school.

These two young students Rut Elise and Katarina were out with the dogs.
They will be at the big RUSS event at KONGEPARKEN soon together with Russ from all over the country!

BRUSTADBUA is OPEN when others have closed.

BRUSTADBUA has always some freshly made temptations....
Nice to buy some, before or after a walk around Mosvannet.

Newborn baby.

I went to the hospital this morning and while I was buying coffee at the entrance area, I noticed the little baby and her mother.

The mother told me that her baby girl was born on Thursday, so this cute little girl is only 3 days old.

Welcome to the world little girl!

May life treat you well!

Congratulations to her family with a new member.

Saturday, 15 April 2017

Garden centres are open.

We are lucky to have several good garden centres in and outside Stavanger.
Easter is a good time to start preparing the garden for a new season.

Today was COLD again, with a bit of wind, plus a bit of
rain and snow in the air....

I bought herbs, colourful plants are next on my wish list....

Friday, 14 April 2017

Out on the beach today I noticed these two sporty happy teens, Hannah and Malene.
They were getting ready to surf out on the North Sea waves.

We have had a wonderful day.
Blue sky and lots of sunshine.

PS. YELLOW is GUL (in Norwegian)
For me, yellow is the colour of Easter.
Today, my photograph captures both the colour and the name (Gul).

Thursday, 13 April 2017

Opening in 5 minutes.

The Irishman, the popular pub close to the Culture House is opening their doors in 5 minutes.
(In the old days, EVERYTHING was closed over Easter.....)

Looking nice and ready to have guests sitting outside too.

Ready for Easter.

They are ready for EASTER.

Have a nice holiday time!

Monday, 10 April 2017

So many shops have closed / are closing for good in Østervåg.
What is wrong?
Do we use the shopping malls outside the city centre, and don't use the city for shopping anymore?
Thanks to Italian BENETTON who have sold nice warm and colourful clothes for years.
The last few years there has been too much "Sisley" in the shop, so they have not earned much on me as a customer.

Ilse Jacobsen, Tommy Hilfiger are two other brands have also
given up.
Shopping malls or internet?

Sunday, 9 April 2017

A Sunny Sunday.

Sunshine and a bit of warmth today.
People enjoying coffee etc. from the bakery.

(The sign and text is "similar" to an old Christian Easter song by Grundtvig.)

Saturday, 8 April 2017

One way or the other...

Always good to know where to go.........
