GLADMAT 2011

This is the photo I had planned to put out the day when the terror suddenly hit Norway.........

It is time to show you something different, daily life that has nothing to do with the recent events in Oslo.
Food tasting can be serious, but also fun! (Yes, I did try!)
The food festival (finally) managed to see that it was too much when our country was hit by such a major tragedy, -and they closed the event!

(We will not let fear stop our daily life. We live in a small democratic country, an open society, and I guess what surprised me so much was the fact that it was a Norwegian man, who had never had anything to do with the police before he killed nearly 100 and injured so many more!)

I just can not understand the madness of this guy, Gunn.

A right wing religious fanatic. Sadly we have them in Sweden as well. Glad that you are back posting normally again Gunn. This is a funny candid portrait of the girls.

Gunn, there really is no explaining nor understanding a mind like that. I think it is important that daily life begin anew because then the healing can begin. Does not by any means diminish the tragedy but it is important for the mental state of the survivors and the families who are bereft with grief. My heart still hurts for all of you. After Oklahoma City and 9/11 I was in a daze for many days so I have a glimmer of what it must be like for Norwegian citizens.

A friend returning from Oslo visiting relatives learned of the tragedy after the plane touched down in St Paul when a passenger with a cell phone heard about it. Now, instead of writing thank you notes she needs to call and send condolences to friends and relatives. Fortunately none of her family and friends have been affected, but in a country of your size everyone is affected.

For some life has changed for good but we shouldn't let this change the Nordic way of life in any way.

I think that is the position to take. Terror can not stop society. We must continue with our lives despite the pain.
In Spain, ETA terrorism has meant the loss of more than 800 lives.

It is always hard to decide when to turn away from a tragic event like that and try to resume normal life. Trying to be normal again is a healthy reaction, and in no way suggests that you are not still deeply affected by the tragedy.

You're right Gunn, it does seem to make it all the more worse when it is one of your own nationality, very hard to get back to normal when something like this has happened. I think the girl in your photo is very brave to have such a 'close up' shot, my idea of a nightmare haha!

Our thoughts are with you. It's understandable to want to begin to breathe again, to reach for something normal in the face of this tragedy. It is also normal to grieve. This is a great personal as well as a national and global sorrow.

I'm very sorry for the tragedy in Norway. What a senseless act. Please know that good thoughts and love are with the people of Norway.

I think it is very hard to return to "normal" life after a national tragedy. But seeing this photo made me smile, and I'm sure many in your country could use a smile today. Lovely photo for today. Continue to keep Norway in my thoughts. xx

So sorry for the grief and agony in Norway, and you have many people around the world who feel this sorrow with you and the people of your country. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am still perplexed how a deranged individual could so easily wreak havoc amid innocent people. Where was your police? Were they up to the task for this kind of threat? It is unbelievable even for our sloppy Mediterranean standards that not even a token armed security force was there to try protect all those kids...

Armed police is not common here. It is not a violent place.....or should I say; did not used to be(?) On this summer camp for teenagers, they had a policeman and several other adults working there. They were shot!
This evil act, was done by someone who was not known by the police.
The "rules" for the police might change. Time will show....
