This is just one corner of one of the five houses that were involved in a huge fire last night!!
As you see, the houses are very close. No people were seriously hurt but several people lost their homes and belongings.
It could have been much worse!!
Now the politicians are out in the newspapers discussing if and how to best protect areas with old and listed houses.

The house in fron was really lucky! What will happen to the homeless people, any special program, is insurance perfunctory?

How sad - they look like lovely houses. I suppose if they have wood frames they burn easily.

Gee, I know the story only too well. Old wooden houses are pretty to look at but a constant trauma for fire-fighters and city planners. Must be tough to be going through this in the coldest of weeks.

I guess some great, selfless Stavanger firefighters came to the rescue! Bravo!

Fue una suerte que nadie resultó herido. Un papel fotográfico histórico!

Sad news. Glad there was no loss of life. Even if difficult, stuff can be replaced in time.

No good time for this to happen. As we would say, 'bummer'.

Fire is so devastating. I wonder what was the cause of it. We have many house fires in Florida during the winter because people aren't prepared for cold weather and when it hits they go buy cheap heaters which are dangerously inadequate and pose a terrible threat!

It's so sad to see nice houses burnt because of a fire. We hear of occasional fires here too, especially in the winter when it's dry. I hope the people have someplace warm to go to.

Sad. They look like cool old houses.

It's always sad to see homes burned.

A pity for the beautiful house and the people who used to live there. I hope they get the buildings restored, if the damage is not too heavy.

On a different note, it's interesting to notice the Scandinavian influence on some new builds around here (York). But I'm not an expert, so perhaps it comes from elsewhere. I'll post a picture one day. Thanks for calling again!
