One last photo from the Nato visit.

One last photo from the Nato visit.

Monday, 29 September 2014

NATO mine countermeasures force.

The NATO mine countermeasures force that were here, consisted of seven vessels.
This is the submarine.

I was surprised to learn that there are still more than a thousand mines, left over from WW11, lying along the Norwegian coast.

It is quite international down at the harbour.

Saturday, 27 September 2014

The Navy.

The harbour has visitors from different Nato member Navies this weekend, and the public had the opportunity to visit onboard for most of the vessels.

The day started with rain.
This is the parking area outside lots of shops and offices in Hillevåg.
Part of it is private, and people going to the shopping mall Kilden, mainly park in the multi-storey car park.

The day turned to sunshine later on, but now the wind is really starting to pick up.
Have a nice and relaxing weekend !

Thursday, 25 September 2014

Drinking session.

I parked the car outside an office building.
It looked like someone must have had a drinking session in the parking area last night.

Wednesday, 24 September 2014

Less people smoking today.

This is probably the most tidy smoking area I have seen for a long time.
It was outside a hairdressers, so I guess the customers want to walk away smelling nice instead of smelling of cigarettes.

Or what?

Part of some of the new NUART that can be seen in the city centre.

Rain rain rain.

Herr Jensen, the dog, is visiting us this weekend.
So we have been out in the rain.
After all the sunny days it is actually quite nice with a change.

Friday, 19 September 2014

A kitchen window.

A restaurant kitchen window.
I am told that they make good food here.

Thursday, 18 September 2014

In the restaurant RENAA.

In the restaurant RENAA you can see one of  Anthoney Gormley´s statues.
You can see more if you click on the label BROKEN COLUMN, on my blog.

This made me STOP.
Sad to see all the rubbish that had been fished out of the harbour!

Tuesday, 16 September 2014

It is beautiful outside!

Sunny and still a feel of summer.

Monday, 15 September 2014

Topic of the day.

According to DAGBLADET this is the main news today.

The kings daughter is out doing business and having an event with Lisa Williams who will try to put the audience in touch with their beloved dead.

Sometimes, I think it can be hard enough communicating with the living.

Here is the article:

NUART 2014

New art by Levalet at NUART 2014.
Seen in a narrow little street, on a shop wall in the city centre.

Wednesday, 10 September 2014

Used in the fashion industry.

I heard on the news a few days back that Norway is exporting cow hide to the fashion industry .
So if you see some bags and wallets ..... it might be from "Dagros" or some of her other cow friends.

Art by Christian Sunde.

The artist CHRISTIAN SUNDE has some interesting work out at Hå Gamle Prestegård.

Monday, 8 September 2014

This is a sign saying that parking here is RESERVED FOR WOMEN!

I have never used it, but it is close to the entrance, so I guess it is very popular.
We should perhaps have had the sign in English too?

Anyway, I have seen a sign saying "Ladies Waiting Room" at a (train) station in the UK.

Perhaps there are other places that have spaces just for women??

p.s. The dent in the sign is probably not the best advertisement for us female drivers though :)

Sunday, 7 September 2014

This is the artist Guy Allott who explains the work of several UK artists, including himself, who are exhibiting work as part of the exhibition "Picaresque" at Hå Gamle Prestegård.

It amazes me to listen to what artists can come up with regarding meaning and thoughts.

Sometimes it is a little like "The Emperors new clothes."
(Sorry, if I offend someone here, that is not the meaning.)

Anyway, this is a place that I have seen so much I like, and sometimes too much of things I dislike.

Saturday, 6 September 2014

The SALE´S are (soon) over.

The SALE's are over most places.

Today it has not stopped raining, so it is one of those days when the city is quiet and the shopping malls are packed.

I look forward to warm clothes and new wellies.

Friday, 5 September 2014

Tore Renberg.

I had the opportunity to meet and hear the author TORE RENBERG (from Stavanger) presenting his new book together with the publisher.

He is just back from a tour in the UK, where his book is out, and where he visited several bookshops to meet the readers.

This is the book I will start reading this weekend.

Take a look at this link for more information:

Sporty woman.

There are some sporty people around .......

Wednesday, 3 September 2014

A new donkey.

My friend and I were out on a "Walk & Talk" trip today, and discovered that the donkey family at Ullandhaug had got a new family member.

(I like the farmland we have, just 10 minutes away by car from the city centre.)

So much work / digging going on in our city at the moment.
