Today many people have been talking about "a happening" that took place yesterday. A woman wanted to free THE TREE from all "Tutter" as we call dummies (pacifiers) in Norwegian.
She wanted the tree to breath.....
Many kids have had this tree as their "landmark" where they placed their dummies when the time was right, and so many families have visited the place on their walks around the park.
The newspaper was invited to her removal session, and here are some of the articles in the newspapers.
Even on facebook there are already more than 2500 supporters of the dummies on the tree!
Many kids have probably heard the story, and asked just like many adults. WHY ??

Cool photo! I'm not sure I understand why anyone would put pacifiers on a tree or why anyone else would care enough to try to remove them!
An excellent image and an interesting story. I remember that the removal of the pacifier was a drama for my kid then, may be the story of the tree helps with this.

What a great photo - I've never seen a photo taken of this subject matter in such an artistic way! I love the story - my son completely needed your tree when he let go of his Binky (that's what we call them). I vote for the Tutter to stay.

We refer to these as "pacifiers". I'm struck by the similarity to the "gum wall" I've posted on my blog a couple of times. However, I support this healthy coming of age practice of moving past the child's need for a "dummy". Nice custom!
I'm not quite sure how tying a pacifier to a tree by a ribbon stops it from "breathing". I could see if people were NAILING them to the tree or tying them with wire, or something. Yeesh.
