And the road continues on to several other islands.

The LADIES from TJELTA.

The LADIES from TJELTA,
is a group of women who meet up once a week, for a nice walk together. (Tjelta turgruppe.)

TJELTA is an area in Sola, about 20 minutes south of Stavanger city centre.

The group had driven a bit further south for this weeks walk.

Here they enjoyed their lunches at the bridge, MIDGARDSORM, also seen in the last two postings.

In the winter, when it is cold and perhaps with snow and rain, they have the possibility to use a nice sports/club house where they have lunch.

Sporty Ladies!

(Hope you will explore lots of nice places, and don't forget the Botanical Garden at Ullandhaug :)

The bridge MIDGARDSORMEN.

I went for a walk this beautiful SUNNY morning, over the bridge Midgardsormen.
In Norse mythology the "Midgardsorm" is famous.

It is situated about 30 minutes by car south of Stavanger,
and then it is a short walk from the parking place.

There are picnic areas on both sides of the bridge.
The grand opening of the bridge took place earlier this month.

It is built, thanks to companies and individuals who have paid "shares" to have the bridge built.
Names are put up on one side of the bridge.

(STAVANGER DAILY PHOTO is also on FACEBOOK.)

We have moved in to autumn now, after a nice long summer.

Evening sun.

We have had a beautiful day here in the Stavanger region.
Those of you who follow my blog will remember "Buddy", my favorite tug boat.
This photo was taken around 22.30 tonight.

A view.

A view from the main road passing the (new) concert hall on the left side.
If you enlarge the photo you can see the small islands connected together with bridges.

Goodnight from Stavanger.

Goodnight from Stavanger.

I just crossed the bridge, Strømsbrua, and noticed another sign of spring.
It is probably a fun-fair event for the upcoming Easter holiday.

Soon over the bridge.

We will soon have winter with SNOW again.....
Windy and coooold.

Happy weekend!

You are welcome to follow a trip that I made today.
A trip that started with taking the ferry over the fjord to Tau.

Always nice to see houses etc. from the boat.

And I met a nice couple from China, New York or should I say London, where they are living now.
He is a professional pianist. Check out http://www.ernestso.com
Perhaps he will be back and playing at the new concert hall here?
Nice couple, and I was so pleased to hear beautiful things about "my" country from someone who has seen, and been to, so many places. Perhaps I take things for granted here..... Perhaps I should listen more to what tourists say.

What a beautiful afternoon & evening!!
YES, I have been on a boat trip.

Saturday, 23 June 2012

Our city has several small islands connected to the mainland via small bridges, like this Engøy Bridge, between Engøy and Sølyst. If you go to the right here you will come to the big City Bridge.

Tonight there will be mid summers night celebrations all over.
Enjoy the evening wherever you are!

The bridge, named "Tanangerbroen" over Hafrsfjord.
Today is a busy day after the Easter break with many people on the roads coming home from the mountains.

Another tug boat, named "Englishman", and at the back it was written Hull.
The guys working on it, told me it was from Yorkshire.
Safe journey!

Rain, rain go away!
It has been a windy, grey and wet day!
Just to inform you,  the bridge is not falling down, it is just the way it is constructed.

All cars in Norway have to use the lights no matter if it is day or night.

I am starting to count the days now until we are off on a little break somewhere sunny and warm!;-)
