Sad to see....

Sad to see that it is necessary to chain benches in town.

HANEKAM

Such a grey day today, so it is good to see some bright colours.
This is outside HANEKAM , a coffee / bar place at Øvre Holmegate.

Yellow door.

Number 2 is a white wooden house.
The entrance door is bright YELLOW, and that I like!

In Norwegian I would have said: Gult er kult.
Which means: Yellow is cool.
Anyway, it sounds better and it rhymes in Norwegian

Have a good weekend!

Mahad Abib Mahamud

Mahad Abib Mahamud is a 30 year old bioengineer, who came to Norway when he was 17 years old.
Now the authorities are saying that he is one of several people who are not entitled to a Norwegian passport, since it is not true that he is from Somalia.
Some do not know what to believe, some are saying that he should be in entitled to stay in the country, since he came to Norway he has been contributing to society.

Mahad's solicitor is saying: It is illegal to make someone stateless! And I guess the government has some work to do because there are several cases like this, and it should at least be possible to try this case in court.

On my way home this afternoon, I saw a group of about 50 people walking towards the old market place, where they held a protest about MAHAD's situation.

Agree or not, it is good to see that there are people who go out and express their feelings and opinions about different political cases.

The banner is saying:

It is enough now!
Let Mahad stay!

Nice design.

I really like the design of this bench at the old market place.

Mika and Emilia.

MIKA is a fantastic Borzoi dog! (Russian wolfhound)
EMILIA is a profesional caretaker for dogs (and cats.)
Plenty of walks.
She is out and about sometimes with more dogs at the same time.
They looked like happy friends!!
Nice meeting you both.

Sandnes, not far from Stavanger....

SANDNES is our nearest town, just 15 minutes south by train from Stavanger.
They are good at decorating their city, and to put out some new and different stuff here and there.
This time I noticed some huge cheerful & colourful chairs/benches put out in the pedestrian street.

A view from Vålandstårnet.

A view down to the city centre of Stavanger, taken from VÅLANDSTÅRNET (Yesterdays posting).
It includes the fjords and mountains a bit further out.

Sunny days.

Many people have taken a few extra days off work and have already gone away for a long Easter -  Holiday - Week, either to cottages up in the mountains or somewhere along the coast.

We have been lucky with the weather, also those who are further south and in and around the Oslo area.

Sunny days!

Spring cleaning.

I am not sure if it can be called spring cleaning, but a couple of people were busy tiding up the little lake, Breiavatnet, at the city park....

Look what they found!

I guess it will be more safe for all the swans who are now out and enjoying the sun and the nice temperatures.

Happy weekend!

LOUISE and her dog.

Louise (from Århus in Denmark) is relaxing on the bench.
She works as a nurse at the hospital here in Stavanger, and had been on a night shift.
Finally we got a warmish day, and I think her cute little dog Mollie also enjoyed a trip out in the sunshine.

Sculpture

I had a look around the Summer exhibition at Hå Gamle Prestegård yesterday.
It is a while since I have been there, and look who I found outside?
A huge sculpture of a nice dog made by Petter Hepsø.

Todays models.

Todays models are a sweet couple who I met when I wanted to photograph this bench made out of a tree.
I remember I used my mobile to write their names down, but technology and me do not always work well together, so I am sorry about not adding their names here.
Anyway, I remember he told me that he was a music teacher, and I guess their home and their lives are filled with music.

Summer will come......?

Well, if you are in and around Stavanger today,
you will look up and see that this is not like the sky we have just now.
So far we have not had much "summer" here.
It has been cold, windy, sometimes rain, sometimes a bit of sunshine and a warm day or two.
The school holiday has started and many families have headed for Spain, Portugal, Italy, France etc.
I look forward to warmer days.
