Helicopter traffic.

Living here on the coast of Norway I see and hear helicopters nearly every single day.

Not since 1978 have we had a disaster like the one that happened on Friday, when 13 people lost their lives!

Newspapers, radio and TV have been covering the tragedy where a Super Puma EC225 crashed just outside Bergen, on it's way from the "Gullfaks B" platform.

The loss for family, friends and colleagues is devastating!

For Statoil and other oil companies, safety has been, and will be, number one.
All helicopters of the same type are grounded until they have found answers to why this happened.
In 2015 there were more than 600.000 passengers travelling to and from platforms here in Norway.

This accident is sad and tragic, but you have a long record of many safe years.

I read about the accident, it's a very sad thing. I like your capture with the helicopter and the large concrete building.

I wonder how long it will be before they declare what happened.. sometimes it can take so long mainly because no one wants to take the responsibility!

Hello Gunn! It's so very nice to meet you. I had a penpal when I was a teenager. She was from Norway named Kirsten Ahling. Gosh... I wonder what happened to her.

This is tragic news about the helicopter. I haven't read the papers this morning, but I will look.

It did make our newspapers yesterday. Understandable that they'd want to ground that until they've got some answers.

I was wondering if a cause had been cited.

I heard about it on the radio here in Ireland. So sad for the families who lost loved ones. I do hope they find out what caused this terrible tragedy.

So sorry to hear about this tragedy.

It is indeed a very sad event. I worked in an industry that could have accidents if the utmost care is not taken, so I do appreciate the "safety first" culture of the companies that operate the oil rigs and helicopters. It is a true tragedy when, despite the best of intentions and strict safety practices, things go wrong and people lose their lives.

Too many Pumas have fallen from the sky.
Time for a new aircraft.

I do enjoy your pictures.
