If you are a "follower" of my blog, you can now WIN a CD by Ann - Kristin Sørvåg.
( Her artist name is: Ann-K-Norway -Ensemble. )
I got two CD's yesterday, one that I have been playing again and again, and the other one I will post to one of you, who would like to have a brand new CD with "Heavenly Music from Norway between Jazz and Mysticism".
Ann-K is a Norwegian soprano who has studied singing with Gidon Saks, Paul Farrington, Bernhard Raddatz and Anne-Liese Kalhovde. She has been living in Sweden and Germany too.
* Everyone who leaves a comment for this posting, will be "included in the draw" for the CD.
The winner will be announced NEXT Friday.
Where is it possible to hear "new & old jazz" where you are living?

OUr town has mostly country music, fiddles, folk musing and so on. It's up in the mountains and people here enjoy that kind of music. We play jazz from our CDs here at home or in the car.
I would enjoy Ann-K very much as I'm a jazz aficionado! Unfortunately, we really have no place in Ocala to hear any kind of jazz. It's mostly country music except for concerts put on by the local college.
Have a great weekend.
Sounds like a cool artist. I wouldn't know where to hear jazz here in Toronto. :(
Mostly from CD, sadly. There are places around, but I am not sure what kind of music they are playing now...
Live jazz, both new and old, is alive and well in my neighboring city of Boston. Berklee College of Music is one of the main providers of new jazz and there are numerous venues providing great jazz year round. Boston's jazz history runs deep. I am really lucky, though I haven't taken advantage of it much.
Thanks for all your kind comments in the past at QDP.
There are lots of jazz places in the Pheonix area. My favorite one is in Scottsdale but, sadly I haven't been there for a while.
Yesterday we ALMOST went to Evangelos in Santa Fe, but were put off by the reviews. Despite the negative reviews, I was willing to try it but DH was not in the mood. There's another club that we've gone to several times and enjoy.
Nice offer of the CD; hope I win!!
What a lovely idea Gunn!It sounds like a very interesting style of music- I enjoy late night jazz here in Manchester where there are quite a few jazz clubs and jazz nights and the occassional jazz festival.
I used to enjoy listening to NRK on shortwave and medium wave, in English and then listening to Norwegian and music too...
Chrissy at Manchester a photo a day at Mancunian Wave
Thanks!!! Can't believe I won. :)
