A few days back my husband and I had a quick lunch together, and next to us sat a mum, Anette, who was breast feeding her two month old daughter, Chloe Linnea.
It is a very common and a very normal thing to breast feed in public here in Norway.
What is it like where you are living?
The baby´s family on her fathers side are living in South Africa, and the family will spend a month there before mum is going back to work. In Norway you are entitled to 80% of your salary for 13 months after giving birth.
Look at that little hand..... :)
Love was in the air.......

Probably the same in Sweden although I don't have any statistics.
Much to my surprise (am I so out of touch?) there was some discussion here in NZ recently, after a "lifestyle magazine" (Better Homes and Gardens) had published the "commandment" (relating to eating out with children) that mothers should use restrooms of restaurants if they had to breastfeed. How preposterous! Subsequently, a survey was published showing that 61% of NZers were comfortable with breastfeeding in public. Maybe one day we will step out of the Victorian era?
I would say here in South Australia that generally I don't see Mums breast-feeding in public unless it is very discreet. especially not in restaurants or on buses. One day I boarded a bus and a lady in the front seat was breast-feeding - it was interesting to watch the faces of the people entering the bus - I would say embarrased and looking away quickly.

Most natural thing in the world. How the wee babe is. MB
I meant to say how sweet the babe is. MB
Same age as my new granddaughter.
Breastfeeding is not very common in public, but it may depend by the place. Here, I can imagine it in a park, but not in a restaurant or something like that.
This is such a beautiful picture. I don't understand the problem with breastfeeding a baby in public. That is what breasts are for! I see women showing more breast, just walking down the street than the mother in the photo.
Public breast-feeding is frowned upon in the US. Although it's rather stupid as it's the most natural way to feed a child.
A lot of places have "nurseries" set up for women to feed while shopping, etc. But I think most women still do it at home.
oh yeah, in indonesia it's very common.
i think it's the best way to feed the baby. the mother skin is better than plastic, i guess...
