Well done!

These two guys have been doing a good job on making a wooden path, so it will be easier to reach the beach for those who are out with a weal chair or a pram.

WELL DONE!

Beach life

This is Elisabeth Nessler and Bjørn Sola together with their two dogs.
Not a common thing to see, a Norwegian guy wearing a kilt (on yet another snowy day!)
He told me that he actually had five kilts...
So perhaps he will inspire more Norwegian men to dress the same way?
Great to see a man who is man enough to dress just the way HE likes.

Together with a good friend I was out walking on the beach, before celebrating "International Women's Day" with some nice food at the hotel on the beach.

Have a nice evening, everyone!

Light evenings.

Mainly grey days over here in the Stavanger area.
But wow, what a surprise with sunshine yesterday afternoon/evening!
We went for a walk on the beach yesterday evening.
Our dog doesn't bother so much about the weather. Here she is taking an overview out over the North Sea on the beach at Sola.

The time was just after 22.00 when this photo was taken. Still light. The maximum daytime temperature yesterday was around +14C

WIND + SAND

Yesterday evening was cold, sunny and quite windy.

I drove on the road between the beach and the airport, and as so many times before the road was covered with sand.
One of the airport busses struggled ( I just hope the passengers and their luggage made it to the airport on time.)
I noticed the tow truck was there on my way back. (when I drove back.)

It is actually even worse when it is dark, then people who can't manage to walk on the pavement, walk out on the road.

Helicopter traffic.

Living here on the coast of Norway I see and hear helicopters nearly every single day.

Not since 1978 have we had a disaster like the one that happened on Friday, when 13 people lost their lives!

Newspapers, radio and TV have been covering the tragedy where a Super Puma EC225 crashed just outside Bergen, on it's way from the "Gullfaks B" platform.

The loss for family, friends and colleagues is devastating!

For Statoil and other oil companies, safety has been, and will be, number one.
All helicopters of the same type are grounded until they have found answers to why this happened.
In 2015 there were more than 600.000 passengers travelling to and from platforms here in Norway.

There is a new girl on the beach.

There is a new girl on the beach... I remember her from Tou Scene.
Stencil-artist Therese Refvik from Stavanger is the artist, who also is the one who did the art, shown in yesterdays posting.

Sola Strand Hotel.

This is the fireplace at the reception area at Sola Strand Hotel, an old hotel, dating back to 1914. Renovated and decorated, and also today a popular place for weddings, business meetings, Sunday lunches as well as a place to meet friends for just a coffee or a drink. It is close to the airport and only 15 min. by car from the centre of Stavanger.
They have a popular spa area, and the best location with the beaches just on the doorstep.

We have strong wind, perhaps even storm this weekend (?)

Well, wherever you are: HAPPY WEEKEND!

Monday morning.

A quick walk on the beach at Sola before 8 o'clock this morning.
+4C, a bit of fog, sunshine and no wind.
A good and fresh start to the week.
This is the view over the runway seen from the sand dunes.

LUKASZ and JOANNA.

Normally I don't stop for hitchhikers. But yesterday afternoon my husband and I said, "Why not" and stopped for this couple who had a big sign saying SOLA AIRPORT.

This is Lukasz and his wife Joanna. A sporty couple from Wroclaw in Poland.
They wanted to stay their last night in Norway in a tent near to the beach (and the airport.)

They had not only been to Prekestolen /Pulpit Rock, but also to Kjerag!
Sporty people!

Today they are heading home by plane. They told me that back home there were days with temperatures up to +40 C.
That is HOT!
Nice meeting you! Hope you will have a nice day here today,
and a safe journey back home!
