Abstract.

Have a good weekend!

MATHALLEN

This is a place that will soon open.

An old factory turned in to a new and trendy food hall, and a place to buy locally produced food.
I am looking forward to tasty food in a new place.

I have been visiting places like this in other cities / countries.
Some yummy memories...

Dolls vacation.

The school holiday is not over, but the bookshops are already full of things to buy for the new school year.

I think this bookshop has made a nice display with the dolls on the beach :)
Well, today we had
+16C and just a bit of rain from time to time.

Tuesday 28 July 2015

Sandcastle.

The beach was nearly empty this afternoon.
Someone has at least spent time and effort to make this nice sandcastle.

Monday 27 July 2015

Breakfast time.

On my walk this morning I remembered to bring some old bread.
So it was a happy breakfast time for "Shaun" and the family.

Sunday 26 July 2015

Sad to see.

Sometimes it is just sad to see how some people "decorate" our city.

Saturday 25 July 2015

A little treat.

Staff from Starbucks were out giving away samples of some of their tasty treats.
Nice to see, and a good way to advertise their company!
Also nice to see kids from a kindergarten having a good time in the city a couple of days back.
(The kids had pink vests on with the name and telephone number of the kindergarden.... just in case... )

Friday 24 July 2015

Chocolate.

I do LOVE chocolate.
But this time I managed NOT to buy any.

It was a company from Egersund (south of Stavanger) who had this stand,
and sold their popular products.

Which chocolate is your favourite?

Thursday 23 July 2015

Gladmat again.

Watch out for falling corks!
That is what it says on the sign.

The Food Festival includes of course plenty of drinks too.

Wednesday 22 July 2015

GLADMAT 2015

The annual food festival opened today.

Suddenly we got a bit of sunshine as well.
Here you see the health minister next to our mayor, each holding a card with their speeches ready to be given in front of quite a large number of people who had turned up for the big event.

Tuesday 21 July 2015

True or false ?

The text on the shop window says;
"Those who think that happiness can`t be bought, have not found the right shop."
Looking at the almost empty interior, this was probably NOT the right shop either.

Monday 20 July 2015

Street musicians.

They were playing wonderful gipsy music and smiled to all passers by.
They were under a roof because of a bit of rain, and if you look at the decorations above the door, you might think the same as me, it looks like cream /cake. Inside is a bakery, also selling ice cream cornets....
Well it is still not hot, most days lately have been around +13C to +15C.
Plenty of rain but a bit of sunshine from time to time.

Sunday 19 July 2015

Decorated door.

One of the colourful doors at Øvre Holmegate,
has been decorated in a fun and artistic way.

Saturday 18 July 2015

HANEKAM

A fairly new and trendy pub-bar-coffee place in the colourful little road, Øvre Holmegate.
The interior at HANEKAM is based on a mixture of old furniture.
They have lots of events going on, so take a look on fb. for more information.

Friday evening.

A lovely day until late this afternoon.
Rain and some thunderstorms in the area, but it does not stop people from enjoying their Friday evening in town.

Thursday 16 July 2015

Holiday time.

They have probably already arrived at their holiday destination, Split in Kroatia.
Father and daughter (Arild and Siril) plus the rest of the family who I met at the airport this afternoon.
I thought they looked not only happy and ready for a holiday, but also very stylish with their hats!
Nice meeting you!
I hope you will have a wonderful holiday.

(Here we had sunshine and around +15C today.)

Wednesday 15 July 2015

Sunny day.

Sunny day today.
A nice day for a trip to the beach.

Tuesday 14 July 2015

A nice summer day!

A bit of sunshine today.
Fantastic to feel  the warmth.

Monday 13 July 2015

Sunday 12 July 2015

VÅGEN

This is what I am longing for ...
Blue sky and sunshine.

Stavanger is nothing like this today.
I just felt for showing you Stavanger on "a good day."

Saturday 11 July 2015

Sculpture

I had a look around the Summer exhibition at Hå Gamle Prestegård yesterday.
It is a while since I have been there, and look who I found outside?
A huge sculpture of a nice dog made by Petter Hepsø.

Friday 10 July 2015

Maybe the summer will come?

Well, it has been another cold day, windy and between +12C to +15C.
A bit of sunshine, but I have to admit that it does not feel like summer.
I passed a shop and saw this little table with beach towels.
At the bottom of the sign it says: Perhaps the summer will come....

That is the BIG question.

Happy weekend!

Thursday 9 July 2015

Time for an ice cream.

It is good to share a break in the little greenhouse.

Today turned out to be sunny, and another VERY windy day!
I am longing for warmer days....

Wednesday 8 July 2015

Todays models.

Todays models are a sweet couple who I met when I wanted to photograph this bench made out of a tree.
I remember I used my mobile to write their names down, but technology and me do not always work well together, so I am sorry about not adding their names here.
Anyway, I remember he told me that he was a music teacher, and I guess their home and their lives are filled with music.

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Fish & Cow.

Fish & Cow is a restaurant in Stavanger.
Close to the harbour and the Cathedral.

Monday 6 July 2015

TVEDT senteret

A shopping mall with 28 shops, some really BIG.
Also a place where you can find restaurants, and one of them with sushi.
It is located south of the city with lots of businesses having their offices nearby.

Sunday 5 July 2015

Stony faced.

A stone face seen on a walk.

Saturday 4 July 2015

Camping.

Someone must have taken advantage of the good weather and the free camping.
I passed this tent on my walk in the woods.
They were probably still asleep, it was 07.30 in the morning...

Friday 3 July 2015

ULLRIGG.

ULLRIGG, a drilling and well centre, is based at Ullandhaug.
They have advanced test facilities.
And it is also part of the International Research Institute of Stavanger.

It is easy to spot when driving on the motorway near the tunnel on your way to the centre of town.

Stavanger is named the oil capital.

Today there are many people in the oil industry who have been made redundant over the last few months.
So that has had an effect both on house prices and the number of cars on the roads.
Many people who had well paid jobs, are now going for jobs that pay less, but are safer, such as jobs in the state or the council.
Lots of offices are empty, and available for renting at much cheaper prices.

Thursday 2 July 2015

One way to advertise.

Seriously, I have never seen ANYONE putting up adverts for renting or buying flats and houses in SPAIN, from their own garden.

Who knows, they might have sold quite a lot already?
Spain or not Spain.
Today we have had +26C.
Unusual for us here up in the north of Europe.

Wednesday 1 July 2015

UPSIDE DOWN.

I have been lucky enough to have twice been to big air shows at Stavanger Airport.
Wow!
These pilots and the acrobats nearly took my breath away!
Today there are lots of other people who post images with the same theme; UPSIDE DOWN.
Take a look here: http://cdpbthemeday.blogspot.com.au
