Not Paradis......

For years this area around the railway station Paradis, has looked something more opposite a paradis.
I guess the politicians are planning on developing the area into a place with lots of modern flats.

Sometimes things happens so quickly that it is hard to remember what used to be around.
I think this was a garage for busses (NSB), before a new company took over the bus routes.

Sunday 30 March 2014

Todays models.

I have seen them for some time, todays models, Aberdeen Angus
living next to the agricultural school.

Saturday 29 March 2014

The Swedish artist.

The most creative things I have seen today, were at Hå Gamle Prestegård. (An art and culture centre south of Stavanger.)

This is the artist TOBIAS STERNBERG (from Sweden, living in Berlin.)
I liked his collages and the rest of his work was quite unique, containing some real surprises!

If you are in the Stavanger region the next two months, you have the chance to see it.

Friday 28 March 2014

The gate.

Shadow.
I love the SUNSHINE!
Tomorrow night we have to turn the clocks forward....
It will be SUMMERTIME

Happy weekend!

Thursday 27 March 2014

Sunshine.

Sunny and great to be out walking.

Wednesday 26 March 2014

A new book.

As a child, what did YOU collect?

Today these two women Aslaug Ravndal Gilje and Mimi Britt Vindenes could present their brand new book, about "glansbilder"( in Norwegian ), "Printed Scraps" (I guess that is perhaps the correct English translation).
It was launched at the Children's Museum together with family, friends and other invited guests, including the press.

Mimi has been on both local and National Radio, and tomorrow you can see Aslaug on Breakfast TV (well, if you happen to live in Norway).

The book is wonderful, and I guess it will bring back childhood memories to many people.
One day, it might be translated to English.

ART.

What do you see?

(I guess different people see different things.)

Monday 24 March 2014

BLUE SKY.

The new week started with SUNSHINE.

I had a nice walk before going to work in the afternoon.
I think this house has to be on my "top ten" list of nice houses.

Sunday 23 March 2014

Saturday 22 March 2014

Even a bit of snow today.

So far today we have had, rain, thunder and lightening, SNOW and now sunshine:)
Spring is on it´s way. I love every sign I can see.....

Friday 21 March 2014

The message.

Tonight this car was parked next to our car, outside the food store.

It made me think about the old chap who was waiving a big poster with the text "Jesus is coming soon!
Perhaps he just gave up, or perhaps he was asked to stop doing it by the police or perhaps his children.
Very often he was seen near the motorway.

It is very seldom we see cars with signs /messages like this here in Stavanger.
Have you seen many?

Thursday 20 March 2014

Bowling tonight.

I went bowling tonight, a crash course before the BIG event at the weekend!:)

Quite a nice thing to do on a rainy evening.

Wednesday 19 March 2014

Urban flats.

Small urban flats in the city centre.
Buying and selling is a big business, and some students who are going to study for years, can earn quite a lot of money out of it, instead of renting.

Tuesday 18 March 2014

It is OPEN

For a small city, Stavanger has quite a large number of Thai massage places.
Perhaps it is the same all over Europe and perhaps even in America?

Monday 17 March 2014

Money - money...

The currency in Norway is Norwegian Krone, and it is not always easy for foreigners to understand WHY they still can`t pay in Euro`s so many places in Norway, which of course is a part of Europe.

Norway is NOT a member of the EU.

For more information about our KRONE, please take a look at http://www.norges-bank.no/en/

Sunday 16 March 2014

Gizmo and Bente.

I met Bente and her dog, cute little Gizmo,
out in the rain this afternoon.
Gizmo turned out to be more interested in a dog on the other side of the road, than me and the camera.
Anyway, I hope they managed to get back home before it really began pouring down with rain!

It is amazing to see the enthusiasm many dogs show while walking out in the rain!
I do hope for less rain and more sunshine in the week to come!

Saturday 15 March 2014

A message.

A message on one of the trees around the lake "Mosvannet."

Friday 14 March 2014

Have a nice weekend!

We have had a windy & rainy day!

Perhaps STORMS later tonight?
So what is better than staying indoors?

A colorful greeting from me.

HaPpY WeeKenD !

Thursday 13 March 2014

Time : 06.32 AM

The young trendy women where "just browsing" around in the fashion shop at the airport this morning.
Local time was 06.32 AM !!!
Gfran, Alanah and Linya hopefully had a nice and girly day in the capital!
They were in the mood for that!:)

Wednesday 12 March 2014

SUNNY DAY !

Frost in the morning, but later blue sky and sunshine!

Tuesday 11 March 2014

Happy horses in town.

Ten horses and their riders from "Storhaug Rideklubb" rode into the city centre today.
The horse riders were eating their kebabs, before heading back to the stables.
I saw them at the market place where everyone was able to admire these wonderful ponies.
A bit of a spring feeling today, probably a perfect day for the group to pop in to town.

Monday 10 March 2014

The White House.

The White House has got a great view, and now with new windows it will be even better!

Sunday 9 March 2014

Spring is soon here.

A sign of spring in the garden.

Saturday 8 March 2014

A view over Våland.

A view from "Vålandspibå".
White wooden houses.
Walking distance in to the city centre.

Friday 7 March 2014

Climbing walls.

There are climbing walls to use, both outside and inside, several places in and around Stavanger.
This one is in the woods at Våland.

Thursday 6 March 2014

Shane Kuhn.

It is not very often we in Stavanger meet an American author, a writer of thrillers who has just started to promote his new book here in Norway !

Shane Kuhn had an audience of readers, booksellers and journalists at the culture house one evening.

Well, I have just started reading the bright YELLOW book, called "Manualen" in Norwegian,
or, "The Intern's Handbook" in English.

It is pooooooooring down with rain outside, nothing better then having a nice warm place and reading something that is written so well that time does not matter.......

Goodnight!

Wednesday 5 March 2014

TOLLAK

TOLLAK, the happy pig,
has been living with Caroline for 3 years, and looks like he really enjoyed a walk out in the woods with her and her friend, Vetle.

Seriously, I have never met a pig in Stavanger before:)

Tuesday 4 March 2014

Monday 3 March 2014

Art by Frank Åsnes.

This is also "Made in Holland", but this time by the Norwegian artist Frank Åsnes.

( If you click on ART ( under the text here) you will see more of his artistic work,
that I saw in Stavanger in May 2012.)

Sunday 2 March 2014

Made in Holland.

"Made in Holland" is an exhibition by two artists that is now being shown at Bryne (Mill), south of Stavanger.
This is the Dutch artist Yvette Lardinois showing her work, landscape painted on plates.

Yes, we have galleries in Stavanger, but like many people do, it is always nice to combine a trip out of town with a cultural event. And nice to hear the artist telling us about the process as well as the idea behind the work.

Saturday 1 March 2014

The Royals.

Yesterday I showed you some details.
Here are some more ......

It is from Cafe Sting:)

Do you see the phone hanging down from the roof?

And do you see the photo in the frame?

It is a photo of the crown prince and his sister, the princess.
As you see the Royals are watching over our town.
