The path along the fjord.

Cycling and walking along the fjord,
a pleasant and refreshing place to spend time, and a fantastic view.

A feeling of spring.

Today has been great!
Even blue skies, sunshine and +10C
I suddenly got a feeling of spring.

Who is this?

Is this James, our butler who left years back?
He is outside a house in the city centre.

Playing cards.

Before going to the cinema tonight I had a stop at one of the coffee bars at the Culture Centre.

These three young students had also found a table.... and were so concentrated, playing cards.

They are all studying to get the qualifications needed to get work out in the North Sea on oil rigs.

But on a windy and rainy evening it is good to find a place indoors.

From the right you see Tom Erik who is from Kristiansand (Born in South Dakota) . The man at the back is Bengt from Hamar, and the third one is Tor - Kristian from Kirkenes.

Parking area.

The "cars for kids" at Kvadrat are all parked and ready for new "drivers" after the weekend.

No Shopping Malls are open in Norway on Sundays.

(I wonder if Sunday is a good day for internet shopping ?)

Yes, I sometimes go shopping on Sundays when I am abroad.

Rudolf Steiner school.

All the years since I left school I have never ever missed or even thought about the school bell!
Seriously it was loud, noisy and out of tune....

Passing this little school ( Rudolf Steiner) I heard this amazing little new sound from what was probably a small hand held, or a tiny bell held between a thumb and finger?. It was like music to my ear......

The schools here started their one week winter holiday today.
We have had a nice day with sunshine, no snow, but there is plenty of snow up in the mountains and lots of other places around in Norway.

It is time for lunch.

Restoration work.

The Cathedral is undergoing some serious restoration work, so the front and the entrance in to the church is now covered up while the work is taking place.

So this is what it looked like tonight less than 1 hour ago.

Tuesday, 18 February 2014

The blonde one.

The blonde one, seen in the area, Paradis.

Monday, 17 February 2014

After school.

A pupil is having a moment of peace.... on the way back home after school.
The cycling helmet was put on the bench and the bike parked a bit further out to the right.

Fallen trees.

Fallen trees.

The station.

This image is taken a couple of days back..... before the rain started.
(Still pouring down with rain, and windy but no storms...... )

It is the station Mariero, half way between Stavanger and Sandnes.
If you look carefully, you might see the rainbow?

Friday, 14 February 2014

Boat houses.

I hope you have a nice Valentine's Day and a nice weekend.

This is an image from a walk near the Gandsfjord at an area named Hinna.

Father Christmas still here....

Perhaps Father Christmas has not realized that Christmas is over?
Work going on here in the garden I passed today.

Wednesday, 12 February 2014

It was a bit of spring in the air.

The dog owner with this happy Woofy is visiting Stavanger for the first time.
Yesterday was a sunny day, and my friend and I, who were out for a walk, had a chat with the man from Falun in Sweden.
No problems communicating using different Scandinavian languages.
Swedish and Danish are similar to Norwegian.
So learn one of the languages, and you will pretty much get two for "free".

Tuesday, 11 February 2014

Paradis in Paradis.

Paradis in Paradis, seen on a walk today.
As some of you who are following my blog might remember;
Paradis is also the name of an area near the city centre.

Monday, 10 February 2014

A place to sit.
Isn't that what we are all sometimes desperate to find when out shopping.
I have never tried these chairs, but one day I will.

It is like there are more new things happening at shopping malls.
Perhaps comfort and creativity are more important than ever?

Sunday, 9 February 2014

Mothers Day.

If you have, - or have been lucky enough to have a loving MUM, you probably celebrated Mothers Day today.

Saturday, 8 February 2014

Sport on TV.

The Olympic Games have started in Sotsji in Russia, and there will be millions following the games on TV.....

This is the NORWEGIAN guy, Mr.Ole Einar Bjørndalen who won a GOLD medal today in Biathlon!

(Some of you might remember that Norway had the Olympic Games in Lillehammer 20 years back.

Are you watching the Games?)

The concert house

Inside the concert hall.

Happy weekend!

Thursday, 6 February 2014

On a cold, grey and rainy day it is medicine to see a window decorated just like this.
I do look forward to sunny warm days both here in Norway and somewhere even more sunny & warm.
Where do you want to go on holiday in 2014 ?

Wednesday, 5 February 2014

The man in the window.

Just to let you know....
The sale is still on.
Most of the mannequins behind the windows are naked where they are standing,
but this one had covered up a bit.

-70 % some places, so some might be lucky to get a bargain.

This is from the shop Roan in Kirkegaten.

William & Catherine

Look who has ended up at a charity shop in Stavanger / Norway?

Have you ever bought a souvenir with "Royals" on ??

Decorated garage.

Blue sky and sunny today!
This is a decorated garage I passed on my walk this afternoon.

At work.

Pilots ENTER so many different airports, several times a day.
This is a pilot soon ready for departure with the Scandinavian Airlines plane he was flying.

If you want to see other images that have to do with ENTRY, take a look here.
