Wednesday 31 August 2011

All of the schools and kindergardens started up again this month.
It is nice to see some "Welcoming" windows!

Monday 29 August 2011

Quite a creative and unique way to make the house bigger.
Please enlarge the photo, and take a closer look.

"It is not full, until it runs over....."
I guess that is quite international!

Saturday 27 August 2011

They looked a bit like two huge bumble bees that had landed on the water!
But they are supply vessels, one of which was named, Njord Viking.

Friday 26 August 2011

One evening this week, I met this hedgehog in a friends garden.
What is on "the menu" you serve when and if a hedgehog turns up where you are living?

Thursday 25 August 2011

Two girls ( Best friends) were out balancing on what looked to be quite difficult. But they managed!:)

Wednesday 24 August 2011

One of the decorated buildings at "Tou Scene".
It used to be a brewery, but it is now a place for art and cultural events.
Some artists have their studios there, and they have a place for food and drinks that is very popular and trendy.

Tuesday 23 August 2011

"Kuppelhallen" is the name of our concert hall, but soon we will get a new one.
Lots of memories from several concerts, shows and even a few dance performances.
Unfortunately, I am not a regular patron there, and there have been times when all the tickets have been sold out very quickly.
It is surrounded by a nice park.

Thai Monks in Stavanger.

Sunday 21 August 2011

When I passed this window, I thought about the phrase;
"Tell me what you read, and I`ll tell you who you are."

Do you think it is true?

Saturday 20 August 2011

"No pooping"
A sign seen at Mosvangen camping.

Now, I know that there are some smart dogs around, but I am not quite sure that there are many that would understand this sign?

Friday 19 August 2011

Goodnight from me here in Stavanger.
Enjoy your weekend!

Thursday 18 August 2011

Of course we have TROLLS in Norway.
Here is one of them.

Wednesday 17 August 2011

A new and smart way to see Stavanger is to buy a ticket (valid for 24 hours) on one of the two open buses that Stavanger got this summer.
Passengers can listen to information in a variety of languages using the headphones provided, and can hop on and off at the stops in the places they want to investigate more fully.
This is a perfect way to see Stavanger for those of us who like to use our cameras.

Do you have something similar where you live?

Tuesday 16 August 2011

His yacht was named "Free Spirit", and the German guy came from Kiel.
Now he was stopping in Stavanger on his way from Bergen.
I guess it must be a very strong feeling of freedom traveling the way he did.
Safe journey back home!

Monday 15 August 2011

"Cupcakes", this time more for the eyes than the stomach.
Made for the "Flower Festival" we had at the weekend.

Sunday 14 August 2011

A big decorations at the "Flower Festival".

If you want to see more photos from the festival the last two years,
click on the labels under the text.

Saturday 13 August 2011

It is so nice to see the old market place filled with people.
Yesterday the "flower festival" really showed some beauty and color.
The festival lasts for 3 days and there is plenty of good advice to be had, and lots of fantastic and highly creative decorations to look at.

Friday 12 August 2011

"Ryndam", the big cruise ship had her last stop here in Stavanger, before heading back to Dover with quite a number of international tourists.
This morning I also saw the beautiful yacht "Infinity" from Georgetown. I asked one of the crew members where the next stop would be, and he said they were sailing south to Mandal.

Thursday 11 August 2011

Costa Pasifica (Genova) at the harbor today.
She was beautiful!

Wednesday 10 August 2011

Cottages at the Mosvangen Camping.
As you can see we had SUNSHINE today!:)

Tuesday 9 August 2011

What do you know about the Vikings?
Yesterday I found out that there is much more to learn. I visited the "Roots Of The Vikings".

P.S It is also a good place to find some really nice presents.

Monday 8 August 2011

Snails!
I am not quite sure what the point of snails really is, but one thing I do know, there are lots of them in the gardens here this year.

Sunday 7 August 2011

I am waiting for the BLUE sky, and I am waiting for the BLUE berries!:)
Too much rain today....
So this morning my husband turned the volume up and played "Mr. Blue Sky"
Well, let us hope next week will bring some sunshine again!:)

Saturday 6 August 2011

The young lady in pink, Veronika, is working for SAS (Scandinavian Airlines), but it is not the new outfit for the stewardesses, even if it would have been something to remember:)

Anyway, Veronika will soon get married, and today was the day when some of her friends had gathered together and created an unforgettable day!
She had started the day with Champagne, and here outside the luxurious VIP Limo, she was most certainly in for surprises the rest of the day and evening! The party is probably still on!
Have fun and best wishes for a happy and long marriage!

Friday 5 August 2011

New graffiti / street art .... close to the "Old Stavanger".

Thursday 4 August 2011

I think even the birds have given up on summer, and decided to go home early.
(Photo taken at 21.10 this evening.)

Wednesday 3 August 2011

This is my photo, - one of more than 3600 photos of flowers from all over Norway have been sent to a national newspaper. If you take a look at http://www.dagbladet.no/2011/07/28/nyheter/innenriks/terror/utoya/17485237/
you will see a picture of a rose that is made up from all of these individual photographs.
You can also zoom in to see the individual pictures.

The roses will be turned in to the soil, the cards will be collected at the state archive.
Not since king Olav died, back in 1991, has there been so many flowers, candles and cards.

Tuesday 2 August 2011

An oil- rig on Gandsfjord.
It is probably in Stavanger for maintenance.

Monday 1 August 2011

Last week we had a big event in Stavanger, "The Tall Ships Races". This guy played a type of Pan flute, not a common instrument here up in the north of Europe. It was beautiful!
