Thursday 30 June 2011

This morning we drove past a very strange car accident. The driver lost control and somehow ended up between the crash barriers.
One of the local newspapers used a couple of my photos. http://www.rogalandsavis.no/nyheter/politilogg/article5656782.ece

Welcome to my new blog-follower, Jim Klenke.

We had heavy rain and thunder storms yesterday!
Today we had even more rain!
Not nice for "The World Tour Beach Volleyball 2011", which started yesterday.
When I passed this "Sporty Man" today, with his towel around his feet, I felt sorry for the guy!
Anyway, tomorrow will be better!

First of all, welcome to my new blog-follower Jose Mateo.

Today I could have shown you pictures of HEAVY RAIN!
But I will show you a nice smile and a nice woman, MARIA from Singapore who gave professional help at http://www.bareclinic.no in the centre of Stavanger.

It looks like this could be good fun!

Sunday 26 June 2011

From time to time I look at this blog: http://beirutdriveby.blogspot.com/ where you can see hundreds of different posters.

Looking around my city I see some posters, but not that many.
Here is one my husband showed me.....
And if anyone has not worked it out, Kopp means Cup and is pronounced Cop.

Saturday 25 June 2011

I remember reading a newspaper article about what I show you in todays photo.

A company started a campaign using pictures of the employees mothers, with a short message saying that their sons or daughters should be careful and not take unnecessary risks at work.
These posters were put up in many places.

Quite a unique idea, and it worked!
Work related accidents decreased to virtually zero.

This photograph was taken this evening.

Did their LOVE last?

Thursday 23 June 2011

Tonight we celebrate "Midsummernight". For us it means BBQ and bonfires.
Click on the word after labels, under this text and you will see what I mean.

This is one of our Poppy flowers. Fascinating details inside, and so colorful!

We just hope we will have real summer soon.

How do you celebrate Midsummernight?

Wednesday 22 June 2011

This is TOMASZ LESNIEWSKI from Puck in Poland. Since 2007 he has been living and working in Norway, as a mechanical engineer. Together with several other people he has been working long days, but this tall chap looked more awake and even had a sporty attitude to be todays model!
Drive carefully on your smart motorbike tonight, and don`t fall asleep before you are back home!:)

Tuesday 21 June 2011

I had to SMILE when I passed "Dad`s fix-it shop". Probably just a room in this big villa.
It looks like "dad" might be busy both outside and inside his tool room this summer.

Monday 20 June 2011

Today it is my "Stavangerdailyphoto" blog's second anniversary!!
I celebrated around lunch time, and of course we had to have some sparkling wine.
THANKS to all of you who follow my blog and who take the time to leave comments.

Sunday 19 June 2011

My friend and I passed this little house surrounded by its beautiful and colorful garden in an allotment.
We thought that this house was right out of a fairy tale (Hansel & Gretel, my friend said).
Wherever you are, I hope you enjoy your own flowers and gardens.

Saturday 18 June 2011

LOVE is in the air!:)
This beautiful young couple said yes to me taking the photo, but no names.

Friday 17 June 2011

I was in town today and saw this luxury yacht complete with its own helicopter.
I just had to take this photo on my iPhone.
I asked one of the crew for some information about the yacht, but he was "not allowed" to say anything about the yacht or who owned it. He did however suggest that I "Googled it", which I did. For more information, see http://yachts.monacoeye.com/yachtsbysize/pages/ice01.html

Have a nice weekend!

Thursday 16 June 2011

"Spanish Margerit" is one of my new summer plants this year.
We had sunshine and +20C today. Wonderful!
Look at the weather sign, to the right on this page, than you will see it will change ....

From the boat "Sandnes" at the harbor in Stavanger.

Tuesday 14 June 2011

We have RAIN !:(

(No, it was not me driving.)

Monday 13 June 2011

This is a wall at the most colorful street in Stavanger.

Welcome as my new blog follower, Ricardo Roehe!:)

Sunday 12 June 2011

Yesterdays photo shows that it all comes down to "fantasy and creativity, or just plain facts."
I guess I would never have seen most of the things you mentioned until I read your comments and had another look. Thanks everyone!:)
Todays photo shows what was really on the other side of the "tunnel".
I don`t know the Norwegian word for these round bright plastic balls, nor do I know the English word, but I guess they are used out in the sea. I guess I can ask my husband, before he falls asleep?

Hmmm. he thinks that they might be buoys? But he is not sure!

Saturday 11 June 2011

So what do YOU see here?

Friday 10 June 2011

As I told you, we have some days with several cruise ships arriving in Stavanger. This is the "back" of "MSC Orchestra." It is huge, and like a floating hotel!
The wooden boat is quite a contrast, but also a very nice contrast.

Thursday 9 June 2011

Today thousands of tourists arrived here in Stavanger on 3 cruise ships.
When I walked through "Old Stavanger" I had a nice chat with this couple, Mary and Richard Utton from Hockley in Essex, England. They are continuing up to the north of Norway.
Have a nice journey!

Wednesday 8 June 2011

On my way home tonight I noticed lots of activity on and around the busy roundabouts outside Rogaland Theatre. The politicians have "found" some money to spend on colorful flowers to decorate the area. Nice to have something pretty to look at when we are sitting in a car, stuck in queue.

For further info. in Norwegian, see the local newspapers article.

This photo was taken at 22.10.
Even though it was cloudy and raining, you can see how light it is here in the evenings at this time of the year.

Tuesday 7 June 2011

Today I will show you a house I walked past.
It is probably very old, but with a new roof.
I think it looks very pretty!

We have had a sunny afternoon and evening. It feels good after heavy rain yesterday.

Monday 6 June 2011

I could not help staring at this "mannequin" outside a shop in a shopping mall today.
Seriously, she looks like she has had a rough weekend...
Look at her eyes.

Sunday 5 June 2011

Some people have more gardening to do than others.
I think the people living here have to start soon.

Saturday 4 June 2011

I met Silje and her wonderful four girls earlier this evening.
She has been on TV and in the newspapers, so I knew a little bit about her and her situation.
The chances of becoming pregnant with quads, without medical treatment, is 1 in 68 million!
As a single mum ( and with an older son), she must be very organized.
Most people struggle with just one baby, and have sleepless nights for months.
The girls must have very close bonds to each other!
Have a nice summer Silje, and thanks for letting me take the picture!:)
From left to right the girls names are: Ida, Isabelle, Sarah and Nora :)

Friday 3 June 2011

We have had SUNSHINE, and the day included temperatures nearly up to +20C.
This is what I like to experience in the summer:)
Enjoy your weekend!

Thursday 2 June 2011

I know that trees and flowers need rain, but today I feel for NOT putting out a depressing image of a cold rainy day, with fog and far from summer temperatures.
I am seriously longing for the days with sunshine and +20C.
This image was taken some days back.... on a not so cold day.

Welcome to my two new blog-followers, Sven and Sonja!:)

Wednesday 1 June 2011

"Under construction" is the subject for this months "theme day".
This picture was taken when the courts for the annual World Championship (Beach Volleyball) were being constructed in the center of town last year.
